Plot: When New York Zoo Animals Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo finally leave Madagascar, they find themselves instead stuck in the wilderness of Africa. There, Alex connects with his roots when he meets the rest of his family, but has trouble communicating with them after spending most of his life at the Central Park Zoo.
My Verdict:
Green Tea says:
Who says Penguin can't fly? Who says lion can't dance? Who says hippo and giraffe can't be together? Everything is possible in Madagascar. First of all, this crazy cartoon is no where near the level of story-telling done very well by Pixar. Pixar is still the industry's best in animation, no doubt. But this piece of animation by Dreamworks has something to prove off.
Madagascar continues with the journey to go back to New York after stranded in the African island of Madagascar. The journey of the unlikely talking animal is simply hilarious, if not that amazing but yet still serve a tremendous way to de-stress yourself. Animal talking is not something new, thus story telling must be important to leave a big impression for this kind of movie.
The sequel is way better than the first movie in a lot of ways. First, the amazing thing is they not only explore the same value we used to have in the first, but they venture out from been only talking about friendship to more on love and family value. Secondly, the scenes are more lively and it supposed to be more adventurous as well. But my only complaint is why human's story especially the annoying granny from some girl's guide association should somehow reappear again? It must be an excuse to make the human simply building a dam to make the Savannah run out of water!!
Considering the big and famous assemble stars, this movie is a sure star-studded one. Unfortunately, incorporating big names may not be as good as you think. Just look at The Ant Bully - total failure perhaps? But fortunately, it manage to stay away from such scenario. No complaints about the artwork - simply what an animation movie should have essentially.
It will not displaces Wall-E reign as the cartoon of the year, because it does not match the story-telling of Pixar. As simple as that, but in overall, Madagascar Escape 2 Africa is a worth to wait. Somehow, you will always notice that "We Like to Move it, Move it" will never failed to make a que into the movie.
