Plot: Andie (Briana Evigan) is a member of the 410 crew, she goes around showcasing her talents illegally.Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum)one of her oldest friends from her younger years, understands her love for street dancing to save her from being sent away to texas he gets her an audition for MSA - Maryland School of Arts. she gets in but only by the kindness of one guy Chase (Robert Hoffman) also a student at MSA. However, not only is he the most popular guy in school but his brother is it's new director.
My Verdict:
Somehow, all the story in Step Up 2 resembles those in Step Up and Stomp The Yard. Three of those centres around the same concept - a teenage prank kid who enjoys dancing with troubles in life, getting problems with family and school, been expelled before accepted back and finally learn to bear responsible in their own shoulder. Was it all the same and sound familiar?
Yes indeed. The assembles of cast this time wasn't that impressive as compared to the one we have in the original Step Up. I feel a bit dampered by the fact that the male lead (Robert something) didn't gave much strong performance in this movie. Besides dance well and good look, he is not the impact-creater and effortless in anchoring the movie. Instead the roles all goes out to the lead-girl (Briana E.) and the rest of the nerdy crew. However, the chemistry between Briana and Robert was still moderate.
The story was not as strong as the first one. The continuity was absent, lack of proper flow, and seems to recycle to whole idea from Step Up. Just change a bit of the setting, character's names and viola...Step Up 2. Dance and choreograph part were nevertheless good and for cinematography, it scores high rates.

Green Tea says:
A review of DVD. I didn't catch it in the cinema when it was released earlier this year because I'm busy. Therefore, after watching and loved the first Step Up, I thought that I should not missed this so called sequel, but not really a sequel. You don't have to watch the first one to understand this one.Somehow, all the story in Step Up 2 resembles those in Step Up and Stomp The Yard.
