English - (18PL) - N/A
Distributor:Sony Pictures
Running Time: approx. 111 minutes
Director: David Gordon Green
Producer: Judd Apatow, Shauna Robertson, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg
Writer: Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Judd Apatow
Casts:Seth Rogen, James Franco, Gary Cole, Rosie Perez, Danny R. McBride, Amber Heard
Plot: Dale Denton (Rogen) is a 25 year-old process server about to serve a drug lord named Ted Jones. He witnesses Jones and a corrupt female police officer, Carol Brazier, commit murder. Dale panics and leaves a roach at the scene containing a rare strain of cannabis called Pineapple Express. Ted picks up the roach and identifies it as the rare strain that he has only sold to one dealer.
My Verdict:
The combination of Seth Rogen in whom many may remembered him as the guy who got "Lizzy" pregnant in Knocked Up, this time teaming up well with James Franco in whom many may remembered him as Harry Osbourne of Spider Man series, looks to be good although not sparkling. They are not the memorable pair you will always want. As compared to others Judd's production, this time the line up of the casts look a bit "Cuckoo and wooden". The pair works but the mobsters do not really convincing throughout the story, which is kind of disappointing.
Step aside the story which have been always based on some interesting theme, surprising or not at all, Pineapple Express is a name refered to a type of new high-kicking drug, and because of that, our pair of heroes have no choice but to run after one of them witnessed a murder commited by the kingpin of the drug himself. They run and hide while the drug lord sets some dumb pair of chaser to grab them. Sometimes, it felt like an action movie, although you know that it is not.
The first part it would have been a relax comedy show but it all ended up as a violent killing and crashing action show. Those elements are far too different and distinguished from each other. This made the whole movie been a bit jumble-up and many subplots are unexplained.
The Ratings...........

My Verdict:
Green Tea says:
Another Judd Apatow's production which may most likely missed its landing pad in Malaysia. Vulgar, explicit, what is more than tackling those sensitive issues, for this in case about drugs called Pineapple Express. Looks like it was not easy for Judd's to reach here. The combination of Seth Rogen in whom many may remembered him as the guy who got "Lizzy" pregnant in Knocked Up, this time teaming up well with James Franco in whom many may remembered him as Harry Osbourne of Spider Man series, looks to be good although not sparkling.
