THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO UPDATES

Comments
Production for the English-language version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is starting up real soon. Updates from Screen Rant has at least some thing to share for. The recent announcement that Daniel Craig will star as the hournalist Mikael Blomkvist has escalated more interests on the movie itself. Craig is currenlty shooting for Jon Favreau's Cowboys And Aliens and is expected to start the new project right after that. Screen Rant has some details and updates.

Here are some notable updates revolving the project at Sony Pictures:
1) Director David Fincher insisted that the setting for the American remake movie to remain in Sweden.
2) With Daniel Craig filling the shoe of Mikael Blomkvist, is now up to who ever of the four potential actress to fill up the opposite role of Lisbeth Salander. They are Sophie Lowe, Sarah Snook, Rooney Mara (upcoming The Social Network) and Lea Seydoux (Robin Hood). See the candidates' profile below:
SOPHIE LOWE (Australia, 19, previously seen in Beautiful Kate)

NEW TRAILER: SUCKER PUNCH

Comments
Few days ago, GREEN TEA MOVIE previewed the first look at the character posters for the upcoming action stylish-flick by Zack Snyder. Warner Bros' Sucker Punch may be still 8 months away from release. However, what gives more goosebumps is that the name Zack Snyder himself; enough to tell you everything you need to know and what should you expect from this movie. The director who found his fame through the stylish adaptation of 300 and Watchmen is back to give you some Sucker Punch.

Set in the 1950s, Sucker Punch follows Babydoll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.

Sucker Punch stars Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish and many more. This movie has granted some attention during the recently concluded Comic-Cons and the timing is perfect for some sneak preview. Here's the first teaser trailer and do enjoy:

Sucker Punch is releasing March 25 next year. We heard that no 3D format will be available!

COMIC-CON: CHARACTER POSTERS OF SUCKER PUNCH

Comments
In conjunction with the on-going Comic-Con, Warner Bros released the character posters for the upcoming film Sucker Punch. The one film involves Zack Snyder, the director behind hits like 300 and Watchmen and also involves six other pretty girls in it. The anticipated fantasy/action and chick flick (at least for me due to my love for Emily Browning) is scheduled for release next year and what comes timely with six brand new character posters featuring the ladies that will be kicking ass around.

While the concept of such chick flick that has been labelled as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns", including dragons, B-52 bombers and brothels are more than enough to convince me how weird this movie is, chances are this could be another Snyder's work that portrays some brilliant outcome in the end.

Plot-wise, Sucker Punch is about:
Set in the 1950s, it tells the story of Baby Doll (Browning), who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather and lobotomy. She ends up in mental institution and while there she starts to imagine alternative reality. She plans to escape from that imaginary world but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is caught by a vile man. She has 5 days to escape before being lobotomized. In order to cope with the situation, she enters the hyper-real world of her imagination, and the lines between reality and dream begin to blur. She is joined with friends who are inmates from the institution. Lessons learned in the said fantasy world could help the girls escape their real-world fate.
Sucker Punch is due in cinema on March 25, 2011.

COMIC-CON: BRAD PITT TO DO WORLD WAR Z

Comments
Remember when GREEN TEA MOVIE Talked about World War Z? Yeah, it's been a while since any attention was projected to the Max Brook's 2006 best-selling novel World War Z. It comes by no surprise that Brad Pitt is the name attached to the project ever since his production company Plan B bought the rights for the movie.

Now, it's been confirmed that Brad Pitt will be the man to lead the movie, all thanks to the exclusive report from MTV. While chatting with Brooks, beans have been spilled off. The actor has long been rumored as a potential lead for the film, but Brooks received the call confirming Pitt's attachment (and the other "Survival Guide" deals) while signing copies of the books at the Avatar booth tonight (Wednesday, July 21) during Preview Night at Comic-Con.

World War Z is about the future that world holds as the humanity embrace themselves on the war against the zombies. Does it feel tiring that yet again zombies are the subject matter? Probably the fatigue feeling is kicking in but we hope the movie is something special and the name Max Brooks and the best selling novel phrases come in with great hopes. In the mean time, Brooks also revealed that Plan B and Paramount Pictures have also optioned two of his other zombie related materials: The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks, for movie adaptation.

World War Z is aiming for a release on Summer 2012 with director Marc Foster (Quantum of Solace) is attached for the project.

TRON LEGACY

Walt Disney premiered a full length second trailer for Tron Legacy, a sequel to the cult classic that hit the world back in 1982. 28 years have gone and the sequel will continue the adventure of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), with his long lost son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) now joining him inside the computer world known as CLU. The latest trailer form Comic-Con looked awesome and I bet you should just watch it to enjoy it. Tron: Legacy stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner and Michael Sheen. Tron Legacy opens on December 17 (USA) and December 16 in Malaysia.

Here is the synopsis from Walt Disney:
TRON: LEGACY is a 3D action-packed adventure set in a digital world unlike anything captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world's leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the abandoned Flynn's Arcade -- that could have only come from his father -- he finds himself pulled into a world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually-stunning digital universe -- created by Kevin himself -- which has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, and landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

TRAILER: THE COMPANY MEN, BURIED, STONE, SAW 3D, RED

Comments
I hope you have enjoyed yourself with the four trailers I have placed earlier on. The Town, Faster, The Social Network and The Debt are some of the highlight for this fall. Well, in this sort of like Part 2, we have more trailers to show you.

THE COMPANY MEN

The Weinstein Company presents The Company Men, a contemporary drama film written and directed by John Wells, enticing the effects of corporate downsizing on families and communities. The movie stars Ben Affleck, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper and Rosemarie DeWitt. Ben Affleck plays a white-collar corporate employee who, after losing his six-figure salary, is offered a job installing drywall from his blue-collar working brother-in-law, played by Kevin Costner. The movie is slated for release on 22 October in USA but there is no words of release yet here. Catch this heart-warming trailer about the ups and downs of corporate world below:

NEW TRAILERS: THE TOWN, FASTER, THE DEBT AND THE SOCIAL NETWORK

Comments
Following are the new trailers that debuted in the internet for the past week. Enjoy!!

THE TOWN

The trailer for the upcoming crime drama by Ben Affleck arrived last week together with the release of Inception. Hailed as the next from the star who directed Gone Baby Gone, Affleck returns to direct, write and star in this movie based on Chuck Hogan;s Prince of Thieves; about four bank robbers as they are pursued by the law enforcement. Affleck plays a professional thief who falls for a bank manager (Hall) after a dangerous heist. He struggles with this newfound relationship whilst evading a tenacious FBI agent (Hamm) looking to catch him and his crew before they rob another bank. The Town stars Ben Affleck, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner and Blake Lively. The Town opens on 17 September 2010 in US and 7 October in Malaysia. Watch the intriguing trailer below:

TWO MORE JOIN HUGO CABRET

Comments
The production of Hugo Cabret is picking up really decently these days. Martin Scorsese is a visionary director and now he has more to add into the casting line up for his first 3D project and a rare friendly picture from him. It is quite uncommon to see something like this from a man who brought The Departed, Casino, Goodfellas or Shutter Island into such genre.

News from The Hollywood Reporter has that stars Emily Mortimer and Michael Stuhlbarg have joined the casting that has swollen into somewhat an interesting and extravaganza one. Hugo Cabret is based on the novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick and is based on screenplay by John Logan who previously have worked with Scorsese in The Aviator. Read on for the plot synopisis below:
The movie tells about an orphan boy named Hugo (Asa Bufferfield) who lives in a Parisian train station. After a chance encounter with a strange girl (Chloe Moretz, star of Kick-Ass and Let Me In) and the menacing owner of a toy shop (Ben Kingsley), Hugo finds himself caught up in a most unexpected but nonetheless fantastical adventure.
According to Screen Rant, Mortimer plays Lisette, a flower girl who makes a living at the same train station with Hugo while Stuhlbarg will play the role of Rene Tabard, a film restorer. While the production only began, Hugo Cabret has become one of my must watch movie next year due to the fact that it is Martin Scorsese's film. Watch out for 2D and 3D version next year on December 9. Read the casting list of Hugo Cabret written early this month here.

Comments
Sam Raimi has been attached to the director's job for Radical Comics futuristic sci-fi western graphic novel adaptation of Earp: Saints For Sinners. According to Screen Rant, DreamWorks recently acquired the rights for the novel and they have quickly step in to have at least a director attached to it.

A closer source news kit from Radical Publishing themselves has mentioned that Raimi will not only direct but also producing the planned picture. Radical Comics has always been upfront and upbeat when they translate their graphic novel properties into a movie adaptation. Radical is very committed in producing comics that are essentially pre-packaged for film adaptations. CASTING NEWS: MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 4, RISE OF THE APES

Comments
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE IV

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Simon Pegg is currently in negotiations to return to the Mission: Impossible IV. The film being directed by Brad Bird and we hope to see the British star will reprising his role from the third movie as lab geek Benji Dunn. The plot of M:I IV is currently kept under wrap and it seems that the movie has not received greenlight from Paramount Pictures yet. Probably it should, considering the high value property around this franchise although some may worried that the recent box office performance of Knight and Day (headlined by Tom Cruise) looks dismay. If it proceeds, it is scheduled to be released on December 16, 2011.

BOX OFFICE WATCH: 16-18 JULY, WEEK 29 OF 2010

Week 29/2010
US BOX OFFICE WEEKEND 16-18 July 2010

For the third year in a row, Warner Bros conquered the third weekend of July with a powerful opening. In 2008, this weekend saw The Dark Knight muscled in an opening weekend record that holds till today. Last year, the sixth installment of Harry Potter took a powerful lead. Similarly on the script for this year, Warner Bros done it again. Perhaps one of the most anticipated movie of the year, Inception lived up to the expectation by gunning a powerful $60.4 million opening. The figure is not a record cracker but the Christopher Nolan's helmer about heist and subconscious thriller was well received, aiming to put an end to a so far disappointing summer season. Inception also performed well worldwide with $15.6 million start from seven markets internationally, including $8.6 million in UK and the rest from Asian markets - Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Thailand.

[NUMBER 1] Christopher Nolan is now a name that could not let you down when it comes to making a high quality, conceptual and brilliant movie. Inception lived up to its expectation by garnering powerful critics, acclamation from the audiences and grossed $60.4 million start on the US Box Office. The twists on the movie made some significant impacts around the world wide web, with discussions about the story and its intriguing ending became one of the trending topics. Add in from the foreign market, the heist thriller has collected $76 million on first week itself. Warner Bros has planned a thorough opening on a global scale in the next fortnight including key openings worldwide this weekend.

THE GUIDE AND INCEPTION EXPLAINED

Comments

[UPDATED] Inception arrived in the theaters this weekend and I guess some may have already watched it. For some, it might have been an intriguing movie to watch but if you found yourself lost in a glimpse of transition, don't worry because you are not the only one experiencing the problem! Perhaps, my idea of watching it for a second time paid off very well. I noticed that the movie explains everything in detail actually and it gives enough space for you and me to debate. After watching for few times, I believe I am confident enough to share some of the things you may not know or perhaps you didn't realize off during the movie. GREEN TEA MOVIE presents THE GUIDE AND INCEPTION EXPLAINED!

[STATUS: Second updated stuffs are highlighted in this color]

READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCH INCEPTION YET

Before you watch Inception, make sure you read this section to get familiar with the terms that will be constantly coined during the film. Also, it is a high concept movie that requires a lot of attention and understanding prior to watching it.

01) Incept means birth or born. In the movie, inception is a process of inducing a new idea which is planted into someone's mind through a shared-dream and subconscious state. Inception is not impossible but it is difficult. Inception requires a lot of imagination. Inception is contrary to the norm by using shared dream state to steal information!

02) During shared-dream state, a group of people is hooked up to a machine inside a briefcase that injects a special chemical formulation that induces high sedatives to allow sedation and shared-dream. The team usually comprised of an extractor, an architect or anyone else who may be related to the mission. So, the name of that machine is PASIV Device and the related information about the machine can be found here.

03) The Extractor is the person who responsible in pulling out information (or in this particular mission; introduce a new idea). Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dom Cobb, a highly skilled extractor who failed his mission while trying to pull out secrets from Saito. However he redeems his reputation later by agreeing on a job which is thought impossible.

The animation Despicable Me dominated the box office with $56.4 million and is unable to take in as the largest non-Pixar original opening from Kung Fu Panda ($60.2 million). The other weekend fellow opener, Predators did some respectable opening by grossing $24.8 million for third place. Most of holdovers were holding relatively well this weekend. This week, Green Tea Movie was unable to provide you with in-depth analysis of the new opener. Check out the table for the top ten chart below. The top ten films this weekend surged to an estimated $191.1 million (second highest of the year), up a massive 45% from last year when Bruno opened at the top spot ($30.6 million); and up 37% from 2008 when Hellboy II debuted at number one with $34.5M. • Nicolas Hoult - Beast (Hank McCoy); replacing Benjamin Walker
  • Caleb Landry Jones - Banshee (Sean Cassidy)

SAW VII 3D
Lionsgate announced the title for the seventh Saw movie as Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive. This could be another joke since recently New Line Cinemas also announced their fifth Final Destination movie as 5nal Destination. However, it was later debunked because The Traps Come Alive is the seventh film tagline. But in the end, the current title is Saw 3D still!

NEW TRAILER: SOCIAL NETWORK, MACHETE

Comments
Need more trailers to enjoy? Fear not, Green Tea Movie has a few to offer. Here's the second one from The Social Network, Machete

THE SOCIAL NETWORK
The Social Network is picking up a little bit more pace. But this is another teaser trailer and this time it shows Facebook chat and comment replied at rather fast speed. Wow, I missed some of their comments though. The film features an ensemble cast which consists of Jesse Eisenberg, Brenda Song, Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, Rooney Mara and Armie Hammer. The Social Network is directed by David Fincher and set for release on October 1. It will be released in Malaysia on November 18.

AVATAR WILL RETURN THIS AUGUST

Comments
With already raking in $2.7 billion worldwide, James Cameron and 20th Century Fox wants more. So they come up with the re-release of Avatar into the cinemas on August 27 in an exclusively 3D version with extra footage to be add in, amounted about eight minutes more than the first print released back in mid-December.

Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora, and wished they could have stayed there longer. So we're making that possible. Avatar: Special Edition will be exclusively in 3D, and will have eight minutes of never before seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes.
James Cameron.

At first I wasn't sure if the re-release will be applied for Malaysia too. A check at local movie portal, Cinema Online confirmed that the re-released will happen on 26 August in Malaysia and Singapore at a very limited engagement and exclusively in Digital 3D. Well, many missed the 3D version when the first time Avatar was released but we have more and more cinemas been equipped with 3D screens. So, that could be a good reason for people to head on for another go to the Pandora.

RELEASE DATE CHANGES: ADJUSTMENT BUREAU

Comments

There is already some wild rumors spreading around the quality of George Nolfi's take on Philip K Dick's short novel in this latest sci-fi thriller The Adjustment Bureau. The movie starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, revolves around a smooth-talking congressman whose political future is thrown in doubt by uncontrollable events and the arrival in his life of a mysterious ballerina. Previously, we have been served with the teaser trailer of the movie and has been knocked out of Summer opening into September 17. Now Universal has shifted the film all the way back to March 4, 2011. No matter what is the reason for the delay, I hope it was not because of bad quality, at cetera.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures also shifted around several of the other movies:

  1. M Night Shyamalan's written Devil is now opening on September 17, taking over The Adjustment Bureau. Previously it was slated for release on 11 February 2011.
  2. Paul, an ensemble comedy film by Greg Mottola, starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Seth Rogen and Sigourney Weaver, is announced for March 18, 2011.
  3. Sanctum (3D), a cave-dive action drama produced by James Cameron gets a month earlier bump to February 4, 2011
  4. The Dark Fields an upcoming film directed by Neil Burger and starring Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, revolves about a failed writer obtains a top secret drug which makes him more successful and intelligent, but has dangerous consequences. It is now slated for 21 January 2011 release.
Fox also announced the releasing date of the comedy headlined by Anna Faris and Chris Evans, about a woman (Anna Faris) looks back at the past twenty men that she has had relationships with in her life and wonders if one of them might be her true love. The current release date for What's Your Number? is 29 April 2011, the last weekend before Summer 2011 begins.

So, what is this movie called Vampire Suck? Is it for real? Yes, unfortunately it is. If you are guessing what is this movie all about, try imagine Scary Movies or Date Movie or Superhero Movie or Meet The Spartan. Get it?

20th Century Fox presents Vampire Suck, opening this August and is directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. A check on Cinema Online, yes, the movie is going to be released in Malaysia on August 26. So make sure you leave your brain at home while watching this, is a sure fun. 007 IS BASICALLY DEAD

I hate this but the situation in MGM's financial woes have been a moajor roadblock for many wonderful productions from that feline studio. Only yesterday, MGM's The Hobbit was in danger of losing one of its key star when Sir Ian McKellen claimed that his time in The Hobbit is ticking away. McKellen is expected to reprise his role as Gandalf, this time The Grey in the much anticipated prequel tot he Lord of the Rings trilogy. If Ian McKellen leaves, the movie can be sead too.

Here'a another sad news. MGM's next James Bond movie is now officially shift from stalled to dead status. Yes, you heard it right, the next outing for 007 is now cancelled and dead! According AICN, all the development for the next James Bond movie (supposedly very exciting since Sam Mendes was the attached director with a shocking script from the brilliant peter Morgan) has ceased, at least for the moment been. But to rescucitate a new movie after this hiatus may takes up to years. Evidently, there was a gap of 6 years between Timothy Dalton's last appearance as the Agent 007 in 1989's License To Kill and Pierce Brosnan's first GoldenEye in 1995 - the last time when Bond faced a similar trouble to start a new project due to MGM's decades long financial problems.

I won't be worried much in a longer term because of the potential from the franchise, the world still need another James Bond's outing. Sooner, somebody will step forward to buy that piece of rights from MGM and make a new film in the future. However, if things are shaping to what it is going to be with a long hiatus and new fresh air of ideas, chances are we won't be able to see Daniel Craig again. It's a waste - considering the fact that I love Craig's outing as James Bond more than his predecessor but the studio is seriously making lots of unattended shits around.

BIOSHOCK FILM WILL BE EXPENSIVE AND R-RATED BUT NOTHING CONFIRMS

Comments

Ever wonder what happen to the film BioShock, a planned movie project based on the game popularly developed by Irrational Game and 2K Marin. The plan of taking the 2007 game into big screen began since last year with Gore Verbinski directing and scheduled for this year's release. No, apparently those did not happen. The last thing we heard about the movie were that the production has been hold due to budgetary concerns and Gore Verbinski vacating the director seat for another project commitment. Gore Verbinski went on to direct an animated feature Rango while Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is replacing him on the job.

Recently, there are some news resurfacing about the movie and the people in IGN managed to grab Verbinski for somedetails about the BioShock big screen adaptation he's producing for Universal. The movie has been put on stalled in the recent months due to budgetary concern but remain optimist that it will happen. He said:
We’re working trying to make it. The problem with BioShock was: R-rated movie, underwater, horror. It’s a really expensive R-rated movie… So we’re trying to figure out a way working with [director] Juan Carlos [Fresnadillo] to get the budget down and still keep so it’s true to the core audience, you know? The thing is it has to be R, a hard R.
What does that tell you? Big budget plus game adaptation plus an R-rated formula is a risky business. Just look at Prince Of Persia, a popular game even with a tamer PG-13 rating still got stumbled in the box office for nothing. That piece of dragger story made with a price tag of $200 million and till today is still making all the money back. But it is not to say that we are sure that BioShock will follow that kind of trend. Getting off BioShock to work is difficult because big budget of over $100 million is always a risky thing to do these days while game adaptation genre has not been performing well with the audience. Also, an R-rating will also narrow down the audience scope, leaving a lot of teenagers out.

Did the recent performance of Prince of Persia affectd the plans for BioShock? Here's what Verbinski has to say:
No, I think BioShock’s a rare one because it’s actually a great story… Me? I don’t want to make movies based on videogames, but BioShock’s the one Oedipal, crazy kind of — it’s just got really good bones, and we’re really trying to figure out a way to make it work… We don’t want to dumb it down, we don’t want to make it PG-13. We want to keep it really edgy, and it’s a huge bill.
At least fans can rest assured that things won't go trimmed down and Verbinski insisted on maintaining the more adult-nature and horror for the movie. Unfortunately, if BioShock ended up in the backyard and not been able to make, I won't be surprise at all. Look at how Halo ended up. Even with Peter Jackson and director Neill Blomkamp were able to produce some amazing conceptual arts and story, the project is basically dead on the water. I do hope BioShock will be made...someday.
