The month October springs up a few surprises. With Scott Pilgrim been taken off from the schedule and The Town has been delayed, there are so much to talk about the logic and rational of certain distributors who have been pretty much annoying, well albeit not as much as it used to be. Scott Pilgrim and The Town are two top quality films but yet, it succumbed to idiosyncratic of other films. We hope the month of November could continue to serve the movie-goers with more tasty and good films as we head in to the familiar time of the year - end of the year's mood and Oscar mood.

RED (English/18) Genre: Action/Comedy Release Date: 21 October 2010 Distributor:Summit Entertainment Running Time: 111 minutes Directors: Robert Schwentke Producers: Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian Writers: Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber Casts: Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban, Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox Plot:Frank (Bruce Willis), Joe (Morgan Freeman), Marvin (John Malkovich) and Victoria (Helen Mirren) used to be the CIA's top agents - but the secrets they know just made them the Agency's top targets. Now framed for assassination, they must use all of their collective cunning, experience and teamwork to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers and stay alive. To stop the operation, the team embarks on an impossible, cross-country mission to break into the top-secret CIA headquarters, where they will uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history.
THE VERDICT
Never call them the old men or else you may get a serious blown-up somewhere. The action-comedy RED boosted itself out from the random three-issues property handled by DC Comic to illustrate a bunch of retired CIA and other intelligence agencies who may need to adjust their life back into the society. However, little did Frank Moses knew that some of the past jobs have come back to silent him. Sarah Ross, the woman Moses loved and mostly spending his time by calling her was dragged into the situation as well. As a retaliation against the people who are trying to kill him, he enlisted fellow CIA teammates Joe Matheson (Morgan Freeman), Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich) and Victoria (Dame Helen Mirren), who are also being targeted for unknown reasons. Together with the help of a Russian Secret Agent, Ivan Simanov (Brian Cox), they try to unravel all the secrets and conspiracies.
RED is playing like any other movies that deal with espionage and conspiracy theory. Think of it as The Losers with older and mature ambitions, or The A-Team with dynamic skills too far out of reach for a veteran. Robert Schwentke whose last work was making The Time Traveler's wife did some decent job when trying to handle a bunch of retiree. First off, RED placed with a lot of styles, skills and wits that have seen out-gun many other prolific similar themes title. RED comes with a package of mixture of testosterone and estrogen, balancing the creativity and over-the-top action notches that gives plenty of excitement and thrills. For that, RED delivers a strong performance that should be fun and enjoyable ride for some geriatric adventure.
While RED plays as a fast-paced romps that holds together, I have to say there are some unevenness at certain point. The opening 15 minutes is slow and does little indication that it is actually an action movie, where audience was served with the candy love flirt session of Frank and Sarah. Then, the adrenaline pumps in quick with the first attempt of eliminating Frank. Then, the introduction of key characters like Victoria and Ivan came a little too late in the movie - about an hour into it. After all, while the pace and logic aren't a big issues in the movie, but overuse of such elements can destroy the movie. The dialogs are not memorable and the story in overall isn't compelling or significantly interesting. Instead, RED relies on the recycle plot about agent coming out of retirement - remember Taken? That's even better than this.
From my opinion, I didn't expect so much from this movie headlined by Bruce Willis. But considering the ensemble casts in this movie, it is more than enough to just to bite your fingers off and cursing the movie. The casts interaction are swift while the quality of acting is as its norm of versatility. Bruce Willis is okay, Freeman lacked some punching considering he is terminally ill, Malkovich is wacky, Mirren is elegant that it is hard to see her as a killer while Parker did a nice gel around girl.
So to summarize it all, RED is awesome if you know how to have fun, but it may stinks if you take things too seriously. RED will remain as a passable action comedy film that satisfies the outrageous fun for no more than any other films. It is just a normal passable flick.
Awkward but looks fantastic. The new title for the Christopher Nolan's upcoming third adventure of the caped crusader Batman has been assigned as The Dark Knight Rises. The choice of word seems to be blowing out of surprises but the name itself speaks more about the true nature of the movie itself. Will The Dark Knight, whom of course referring to Batman in The Dark Knight will rise back to close his chapters of legacy? Or will there be more Bruce Wayne to come?
Certainly, Batman 3 (now The Dark Knight Rises) has been catching a lot of news lately. Until sometimes last week, little has been known about the new film besides that the expected news on Nolan's returning to the director seat again. Then, Tom Hardy has been casted for some main lead roles, presumably a villain. Hans Zimmer will again conducts the music score.
Now, here are some major movement around the project. The Dark Knight Rises has indeed made a lot of news this past few days and in Green Tea Movie, we sum it up all in here. THIS IS THE 8 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE DARK KNIGHT RISES:
1) Well, I shall repeat again that the new title for Batman 3 is - go figure.
2) The Dark Knight Rises will be shot in IMAX, and Nolan insisted that the movie will not have 3D filmed with it.
3) Nolan has stated that The Riddler is not the featured villain in the third movie.
4) The third film is reportedly preparing to head down to New Orleans for interior shooting. Does this mean the Killer Crocs is the villain? No. Chicago will remain as the production main exterior layout, so chances for Bruce Wayne swimming in bayou, is down to almost zero.
5) Of course, The Joker will not be there. Let Heath Ledger's performance be remembered!
6) Nolan said, “We want the look and feel of the film to be faithful to what has come before in the first two films. There was a large canvas and operatic sweep to ‘The Dark Knight’ and we want to make a film that will carry on with that look and feel.”
7) Filming on The Dark Knight Rises is expected to begin in either April or May of 2011.
8) At this point, it is safe to assume that this will be the closing chapter in Nolan's Batman universe.
Producers: Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Jimmy Miller, Patrick Crowley
Writers:Chris Henchy, Adam McKay
Casts: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L Jackson, Eva Mendes, Steve Coogan, Michael Keaton
Plot: Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) are partnered NYPD detectives who work in the forensic accounting department and rarely see any action. Gamble is more than happy with his job while Hoitz has been assigned against his will after a public incident with his quick trigger finger. They idolise the city's top cops Danson (Dwayne Johnson) and Manzetti (Samuel L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for Gamble and Hoitz to step up, things do not quite go as expected.
THE VERDICT
Cross the match now and ask yourself this; when you have Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, what do you get? A great combination for steroidal comedy film with some non-sense lingering at the back of your head of course. That kind of medicine always comes in a form of love it or hate it. Once, there is a Talladega Night and then Step Brother that you love for while there are times like a douche at all. Now adding some sauces of action, you get The Other Guys. so, will this latest invention follows the success of Ricky Bobby or trenching into the drain like Land of the Lost?
Earlier this week, Green Tea Movie updated that The Hobbit has numerous potential casting circulating following MGM's decision to give the production for the prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy a-go. One of those was Martin Freeman who has been linked to the main pivotal role of Bilbo Baggins. Today, it is confirmed that Freeman, who has some praised performance as Dr John Watson in the modern reinvention of Sherlock on small screen in UK, will take on the role as the main role.
To give it an extra boost, the casting for the long-delayed production is now picking up fast. Screen Rant shared the source from The Hollywood Reporter that New Line Cinemas beside confirming Freeman's involvement, also confirming a list of actors that will be taking the roles of the Company of Dwarves.
Leading the band is Richard Armitage as Thorin, the leader of the Dwarves, who was briefly mentioned in the first part of LOTR. Aidan Turner (Kili), Rob Kazinsky (Fili), Graham Mctavish (Dwalin), John Callen (Oin), Stephen Hinter (Bombur), Mark Hadlow (dori) and Peter Hambleton (Gloin) will also be making their contributions into the production.
Both parts of The Hobbit are to be shot back-to-back, scheduled to start this February. We hope it will make it into the cinema on December 2012.
Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale are two names to be reminded for their excellent performance in this movie. Green Tea Movie ran a first look into the movie trailer back in September and found it a great movie coming out soon. Here'a another trailer for you to enjoy, courtesy of AMC TV station which broad-casted the latest trailer not long ago.
The Fighter tells a story of 'Irish' Micky Ward, a boxer trying to be the best that he can be while struggling to support his family. Wahlberg plays the role very well, dealt with full emotions and inspiration with it. Of course, you can;t discounted Bale's performance as Ward’s half brother and boxing trainer, Dickie Eklund, a hindrance on Ward’s life because of his criminal past.
The movie is shaping up nicely, thanks to latest trailer which you can view below:
The Fighter will arrives in US cinemas on December 10 while there is no news on local release yet.
Since a couple weeks ago, the internet and me have been very busy. I was busy on my assignment, thus the reason why this blog has not been updated as frequent as it was. Since October 18, notice the new layout on Green tea Movie? Yes, the change was amendment since some of the oversea visitors have some trouble assessing the previous layout which I like actually. Oh, back to the business - the internet has been actively updating news regarding some of the high prolific projects around the town. This is Green Tea Movie's summary:
The Marc Webb's superhero with webslinging actions is truly heading to a new direction. While Peter Parker will be played by Andrew Garfield, there are a few interesting casting notes to be taken seriously here.
The previous report has that there will be two love interests in the new version of Spider-Man, in the forms of Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy. The contenders? Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska, Dianna Agron and Georgina Haig. Nevertheless, on October 5, the role of Gwen Stacy has now indeed belongs toEmma Stone (Easy A, Zombieland). So the next question is who will be MJ?
No spider-Man is complete without his villain. British actor Rhys Ifans has signed on to play the film's villain but who? On October 13, Sony has finally threw the bucket and it is confirm that the main villain for the reboot will be The Lizard, a role supposedly taken by Dylan Baker if the Sam Raimi - Tobey Macguire's version still alive.
The production will begin this December and will set for July 3, 2012 opening. Could this achieved the same level of blockbuster that Sam Raimi - Tobey Macguire - Kirsten Dunst have once achieved?
One movie has shunned from our radar so greatly that many of us has missed it. Now, Rogue has slated this for an opening on 3 December 2010 in US and in Malaysia.
The Warrior's Way, an upcoming 2010 English fantasy action film starring Kate Bosworth, Geoffrey Rush, Danny Huston, Tony Cox and South Korean actor Jang Dong-gun. It was written and directed by Sngmoo Lee, and is being produced by Barrie Osborne who also produced Lord of the Rings. The production has started since 2008.
The fantasy film revolves around an Asian warrior played by Jang, who is forced to hide in a small town in the American badlands after defying the last mission to kill the infant, supposedly the last of a clan-cleansing. He meets the town drunk played by Rush, and a circus knife thrower played by Bosworth, both of whom have powerful secrets. The trailer is available after the jump.
What's more grand than celebrating out 1000th post on Green Tea Movie than breaking the latest news update on Batman 3. It's confirm. Christopher Nolan has officially accepted the duty to direct Batman 3. It should not be a surprising news since we know how much the commitment Nolan has poured in to make his version Batman something on an epic scale. Of course, who doesn't enjoyed Nolan's version of Batman?
Now that he has confirmed his pivotal role in Batman 3, we are still awaiting what direction of story will Batman 3 carried this time. Could it be the end for Bruce Wayne's adventure to inspire the citizens of Gotham City while he will be pursuited by the police enforcement? As far as it concerns, the whole project is still tightly sealed although we are happy to hear that the draft of Batman 3 has finished.
The trailers in attention this week are the new horror for Paramount's sequel to last year's hit Paranormal Activity and DreamWorks' upcoming teen sci-fi adventure I Am Number Four. Let's start up with I Am Number Four.
I Am Number Four has been frequently on our radar for awhile. We got this since Michael Bay bought the rights for the manuscript last year till DJ Caruso was installed as the director back then. The movie is also produced by Steven Spielberg and Bay himself. The book has recently hit the book stores recently, written by Pittacus Lore, the nom de plume of authors Jobie Hughes and James Frey. The screenplay was adapted by Al Gough and Miles Millar. Catch the first teaser from the movie below:
Genre: Comedy Release Date: 26 August 2010 Distributor: 20th Century Fox Running Time: 105 minutes Director: Jason Friedberg, Aaron Seltzer Producers: Peter Safran Writers:Jason Friedberg, Aaron Seltzer Casts: Jenn Proske, Matt Lanter, Christopher N Riggi, Ken Jeong, Arielle Kebbel Plot: Another vampire spoof comes to life in "Vampires Suck", from Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the guys responsible for other popular spoof flicks such as "Date Movie", "Epic Movie", "Disaster Movie" and "Meet The Spartans". In the movie, teenager Becca (Jenn Proske) finds herself torn between two boys (Matt Lanter & Chris Riggi). As she and her friends wrestle with a number of different dramas, everything comes to a head at their prom.
THE VERDICT
There isn't much to talk about this shit. I guess by watching the video below will partially summarize my thoughts. Additionally, I thought the story is pointless and trying so hard to give Twilight some deadly blow but even someone like me who never liked any of the Twilight saga installment felt that all the three Twilight movie (so far) were better than this one. Otherwise, Ms Jenn Proske's attempt to imitate Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) should be the only credit i give. Otherwise, a total trash. Enough said.
Good news to Star Wars fans! George Lucas recently announced that the Star Wars franchise will received the 'dreadful' 3-D conversion treatment and will be re-released into the cinema for one episode per year. It sounds both tempting and hilariously unnecessary to me. Honestly, the only people on Earth that will get excited about this are the fans of the two Star Wars trilogies. As far as it concerned, still, it is unnecessary.
Even so, I am wondering how Star Wars would look like in 3-D too. Giving with some major step up on the 3-D conversion, as again been hailed by the master James Cameron who has recently talked about his plan to convert Titanic into 3D. This re-release in 3D, I should have see this coming. Screen Rant and Heat Vision report that George Lucas is officially planning the re-release of all six Star Wars movies in 3D starting with Phantom Menace in 2012. That obviously means Lucas is going the route of releasing them in chronological order as opposed to the order in which they were originally released.
