Every year, there are several films that bombed pretty bad on their performance. Not only they were a failed film to begin with, but they contained materials that were pretty much hated, stupid and reckless. In the end of the day, they left you with a sense of regret for spending your money for such a subpar quality film. The year of 2010 is closing its curtain pretty soon and Green Tea Movie looks back the year by taking a look on the year's TOP TEN WORST REVIEWED MOVIES ON GREEN TEA MOVIE.

The year 2010 is closing its curtain in less than 23 hours. What's more interesting this time then to look at the box office performance for the year we have gone through around the country. It seems more relevant to say that as years goes on, the film-entertainment-cinematic experience in our country has recorded another year of impressive taking, fueled by more cinemas opening across the country and the growth of 3D entertainment. With the aids from Cinema Online and respected international box office database Box Office Mojo, Green Tea Movie runs down and crunches those number to bring you the biggest box office movies of the year.

The Kids Are All Alright
It is coming quite to the very end of the years. It has been a hectic year running this blog alone. Over the past 2 weeks, GREEN TEA MOVIE has watched and reviewed several movies but due to the time constraint, it seems a little proper to post up a bunch of reviews together. The year end is particularly hectic just like years back. In this post, GREEN TEA MOVIE will look at a few movies:
While it doesn't make any sense that this movie has came out of expectation as a runaway hit, the story feels a little cliche. The whole story of unaffectionate love of seemingly functional family but tampered with a lot of internal conflicts and unauthorized affair takes exactly from some family drama, but managed to grab some distinction of its own by portraying a dilemma in a family headed by lesbians. Although predictable, it manage to capture some heart-warming story that essentially brings a different approach on family values. There are plenty to talk about - from points of the parents and the kids; where questions, doubts and concerns about life, sexuality and virtues are dealt brilliantly. It looks normal despite those rave reviews!
GULLIVER'S TRAVEL (English/18)
THE VERDICT
Gulliver's Travel is fun-looking on its external but feels bitter on its interior. The new remake of beloved Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travel's adventure feels misguided, uninspired and did not gave the original source material some respects. If there is a simple word to describe the whole plot of the movie, that could have been non-sense and rubbish (okay, that's three). Gulliver's Travel is missing the right combination of good chuckles and feels good, rather the whole short journey of 86 minutes resulting in a dreadful experience, sleazy and lazy movie to be watched. LUCKY ENOUGH, it's not the worst movie of the year.
Genre: Drama/Comedy
Release Date: DVD on 16 November 2010, unreleased in Malaysia
Distributor: Focus Feature
Running Time: 106 minutes
Director: Lisa Cholodenko
Producers: Gary Gilbert, Jordan Horowitz, Celine Rattray, Daniela Taplin Lundberg, Philippe Hellmann
Writers: Lisa Cholodenko, Stuart Blumberg
Casts: Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska, Josh Hutcherson
Plot: Nic and Jules are in a long term, committed, loving but by no means perfect relationship. Nic, a physician, needs to wield what she believes is control, whereas Jules, under that control, is less self-assured. During their relationship, Jules has floundered in her "nine to five" life, sometimes trying to start a business - always unsuccessfully - or being the stay at home mom. She is currently trying to start a landscape design business. They have two teen-aged children, Joni and Laser, Nic who is Joni's biological mother, and Jules who is Laser's biological mother. Although not exact replicas, each offspring does more closely resemble his/her biological mother in temperament. Joni and Laser are also half-siblings, having the same unknown sperm donor father. Shortly after Joni's eighteenth birthday and shortly before she plans to leave the house and head off to college, Laser, only fifteen and underage to do so, pleads with her to try and contact their sperm donor father. Somewhat reluctantly, she does.

One of the reason why we watch movie is because movie-watching experience is supposed to give the audience some form of entertaining riddance, high value of quality action thrills and so off. Simply to say, watching a movie is a form of entertainment that plenty of us doing it daily or weekly. However on some occasion, watching certain movies can be a painstaking experience that one can easily felt annoyed, resulting in an unsatisfying movie experience.
For the year 2010, Green Tea Movie has compiled the year end list of top notch movie watching experience anyway. For the next few days, there will be plenty of list of best and worst in the our collection of 2010 movies. [p/s: i'm pretty sure some of you may know that every year Green Tea Movie will publishes the Top 30 BEST REVIEWED MOVIE OF THE YEAR - that will comes on December 30th anyway]
To start the countdown to a brand new year, GREEN TEA MOVIE presents you
[10] VAMPIRES SUCK
Some movie ended up in the list for been entertaining but at the wrong reason. Admit it, you laugh all the way through the painful humors but ultimately it is not difficult to say that Vampires Suck is indeed a movie with plenty of stupidity moments that deserve laughter. In the end of the day, you come out of the movie, yet criticizing it. AGAIN, I KNOW YOU LAUGH AT VAMPIRES SUCK!!
[9] IRON MAN 2
It's kind of subjective to put the sequel to the more enjoyable movie here. Watching Iron Man 2 is pretty much in mixed reaction. One can easily spots the lack of action-packs like the first one. Nevertheless, fan-boys will not really mind since they get the little sense of the coming of the superhero band called The Avengers. Oh, Thor's hammer and Captain America's shield made some cameo.
[8] PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME
Walt Disney aims to make it a viable franchise but the modest box office outcome seems not in favor for the video game adaptation. Despite not been a commercial success, the adventure of Prince Darstan is pretty much followable and exciting. Cross-countrying the whole land of Persia in days, the swashbuckling and dagger throwing actions are breathtaking, intense and enjoyable after all. Oh, Princess Tamina aka Gemma Arteton is truly enjoyable as well.
[7] STEP UP 3D
Step Up 3 lacks some punching power on its storyline, leaving it a sort of cliche street dance flick. Ignore those out of the equation, you got a mesmerizing soul of dance moves, well choreographed dancing that blows you out. Simply enjoyable, nothing more.
[6] SCOTT PILGRIM vs THE WORLD
The movie ends up been ignored despite crazy amount of hypes on the virtual world. The beloved comic is presented with attitudes, preserving the comic styles and enjoyable music string blast-off. It is ignored but it is also beloved. GO FIGURE!!
Now, the TOP 5.....
[5] THE SOCIAL NETWORK
Perhaps the best movie of the year, The Social Network is one hella enjoyable movie that based purely on creative, out of the box dialogues that boost up by a great talents of acting that goes behind it. The screenplay deserves recognition and it is a great deal of masterpiece that leaves breathtaking and enjoyable moments intact.
[4] TOY STORY 3
Animations like Pixar's Toy Story 3 have a trade mark of bringing family together with a tale of heart-warming and charming story to be shared for. Toy Story 3 is magnificent, beautiful and spiritual at the same time. Buzz Lightyear and Woody may have end their journey but not without a sweet enjoyable adventure.
[3] INCEPTION
What movie makes you intensely on the edge for the pure thrills and riddles constantly? You have one, in the name of Inception. Christopher Nolan made another masterpiece, this time using the concept of dream sharing and make it into an enjoyable and enviable story that takes place on a virtual world of mind sharing and mind blowing unorthodox experience.
[2] HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
How To Train Your Dragon beats everything we knew about DreamWorks Animation. How To Train Your Dragon is unlike Shrek or Megamind, for been emotional, soulful yet inspired story. This is the only animation that can rivals Pixar in terms of real deal of action, beautiful story and enjoyable experience.
AND NOW THE NUMBER 1:
[1] THE A-TEAM
Surprise, surprise. The A-Team is the only movie that teaches you to escape the prison in four different approaches: pretend to die, pretend to watch 3D movie, pretend to make a vow of not killing others and pretend to go for a tan. Nevertheless, the ridiculous action sequences pulled off by The A-Team is admirably fun, intense and crazily insane. After that, you will leave the theaters attempting to fly a tank or to stale your helicopter.
For the year 2010, Green Tea Movie has compiled the year end list of top notch movie watching experience anyway. For the next few days, there will be plenty of list of best and worst in the our collection of 2010 movies. THE TOWN (English/18)
Genre: Drama/Crime/Thriller
Release Date: 27 January 2011
Distributor: Warner Bros.
Running Time: 125 minutes
Director: Ben Affleck
Producers: Graham King, Basil Iwanyk
Writers: Screenplay by Ben Affleck, Peter Craig, Aaron Stockard based on novel by Chuck Hogan
Casts: Ben Affleck, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, Pete Postlethwaite
Plot: Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck) is an unrepentant criminal, the de facto leader of a group of ruthless bank robbers who pride themselves in stealing what they want and getting out clean. With no real attachments, Doug never has to fear losing anyone close to him. But that all changed on the gang's latest job, when they briefly took a hostage - bank manager, Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall). Though they let her go unharmed, Claire is nervously aware that the robbers know her name and where she lives. But she lets her guard down when she meets an unassuming and rather charming man named Doug, not realising that he is the same man who only days earlier had terrorised her. The instant attraction between them gradually turns into a passionate romance that threatens to take them both down a dangerous, and potentially deadly, path.
THE VERDICT
The Town marks the second directorial feature-length picture by Ben Affleck. His first effort came back in the year 2007, Gone Baby Gone opened with rave reviews and possibly giving him a name to be reckoned with. Do bear in mind, at that point of time, Affleck's career seems waning after several years of living under the wrong side of the entertainment lane. However, even at that dimmest point of his career, Gone Baby Gone gave him a sigh of relief. Ben Affleck has not only make a name of his own as an actor, but also cemented his true talents for directing and writing; in this case for The Town.
The Town, a heist and crime drama that sets in Charlestown, Boston, where according to the its trailer, more than 300 bank robbery was reported annually (much to be speculated anyway). Four lifelong friends - Doug (Ben Affleck), Jem (Jeremy Renner), Gloansy (Slaine), and Dez (Owen Burke) decided to carry out a daring rob on a Cambridge bank while taking bank manager Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall) hostage. After Claire's release, Doug follows her and they begin a relationship without Claire knowing that Doug was one fo the four. Right after their tails was FBI agent Adam Frawley (Jon Hamm) who surveils the crew and realizes that they work for "Fergie" Colm (Pete Postlethwaite), a local florist.
Doug is hesitant to undertake their next assignment because he believed the authorities are getting closer on them. His fears are confirmed during the robbery in the North End, dressing in ala-Halloween nun costumes, their heist ended up in gunfire. The police arrive quickly, a chase ensues, and the team barely escapes. For their next assignment, Doug insists that he will not take part and he confesses to his imprisoned father, Stephen that he is going to leave Charlestown. Fergie warns that he will kill Claire if Doug does not do the job for which Doug reluctantly agrees. However, the heist that they planned goes wrong. What will be the fate of the fours?
While it is not a truth, the movie depicts the neighborhood of Charlestown as a society with dark crime, violence and dysfunction family-ties. Life in Charlestown is rather straight-forward, either you earns a living on the good side or as the crooks. Also these occupations are rather inherited not by choice, usually passed down from generation to generation. One of them was Doug who has a passion for ice hockey but reluctantly bowed down by following his father's footsteps into the Boston's highly organized crime business. His mother has ran away from home since he was young. The rest of the story is something for you to look at.
It comes to no surprise that Ben Affleck is not having some decent acting in The Town, but set a visionary sight on this project by nurturing the plot direction well as a director and as a screenwriter. The Town's screenplay is written by the trio of Affleck, Peter Craig and Aaron Stockard, which is itself adapted from Chuck Hogan's Prince of Thieves. There is no other better descriptions than to say that The Town is indeed a gripping and highly tensed crime drama. The concepts are highly valuable, mesmerizing and intriguing. The story grips and holds the audience with its high riddance of some top notch thriller, high quality of action and planned sequences. It is also solid, well engaged and stay on focus all the time. For the next two hours, The Town offers an excellent story-telling that elementary centralized on the story of Doug MacRay and his surrounding pretty much like how Chuck Hogan's novel is.
For the acting sections, no one can tell how incredibly prefect each role fits into the characters. Doug (Affleck) represents a strong central character that we can root in, charmed by his swift persona of been smart, calm and a real architect on the heist mission. On the opposite site, Jem (Renner) provided a polarizing character that constantly ignites the conflict with his bad tempered and red-headed manners. Jom Hamm is also ingenious in his portrayal as Agent Frawley, a real badass that counterfeit the heist group and matching them at all space and threats. The acting department that comprises other characters like Claire (Hall) and Krista (Lively) were ambiguously wonderful.
In the end of the day, The Town is not a mere cat and mouse hunting game and a simple crime thriller that robs your day off. The Town has a visionary sight with a focus plot, thick and tense right till the end. Ben Affleck manages to carry the movie well with a compelling direction and script writing that leaves a sensational tone and clear cut with clean action sequences. The Town in overall deserves a recognition for the upcoming tightly-contested Oscar season. The Town clearly redefines the genre of crime into another loop higher. In all, how can we do not love any crime drama that sets in Boston? Go figure!! After all, The Town is still couple notches below from been a great movie.

Latino Review picked up an early Christmas news from Marvel Studios, announcing yesterday that The avengers will be filmed in New Mexico and said that it will be the largest film production to date for the studio. In a press release statement, Marvel mentioned that the production will also featured some of the latest and most advanced technology in film-making ever in the history. This is well enhanced by the announcement made by New Mexico's governor, Gov. Bill Richardson.
In addition to being our biggest production to date, ‘The Avengers’ will be the most technologically advanced and will provide cutting-edge training opportunities for our crew. I’m announcing this as a Christmas present of sorts to the people of New Mexico. This is a perfect example of the incredible job creation, economic impact and global visibility this industry has brought our state over the past eight years, and of the need to keep it moving forward.
Governor Bill Richardson,
New Mexico.
As announced at this year's Comic-Con, The Avengers will have a line up of actors that include Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Tron: Legacy opened last week across the globe and features some of the spectacular visual effects we have seen over years. In case you have not read, GREEN TEA MOVIE has reviewed the film and reserved some mixed feelings about the movie. You can read our review here. Tron: Legacy is critical for its uninspired and weak screenplay but is heavily praised for the technical aspect of the movie; with great use of 3D, detailed special effects and awesome music score.
Earlier this year, GREEN TEA MOVIE has wrote an article about Inception, where we discussed on the ending, explanation in regards the movie and the necessary guide to go through the movie. This time, as one of the most talked about of this holiday season, we thought TRON: legacy deserved a similar article too. Thus, comes TRON: Legacy - Explanations and Guides! (Probably Part One)
FAQs about TRON: Legacy
The following FAQs contain spoilers and details from two TRON movies. The original Tron was released back in 1982. To avoid major spills, I have categorized the explanations and details provided based on the movie. While it is important to note that there are some spoilers may be spilled out for TRON: Legacy, it is still essential to read about details from the first Tron for the guide. Therefore, watch for these two tags - [Informations from TRON] and [Spoilers from TRON LEGACY]
1. What I need to know about the first Tron movie?
[Informations from TRON: The first Tron movie was released back in 1982. Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) is a gifted game programmer who works for ENCOM. After creating several successful games and prepares to present his works to the senior executives, rival Ed Dillinger (David Warner) steals his work, moving him into promotions rather than Flynn. Three years later, Dillinger is now the senior executive and ENCOM is run mainly by the Master Control Program (MCP), an artificial intelligence that started as Dillinger's chess program. After been fired from ENCOM, Flynn attempts to breach into the company's mainframe and find the evidence he needs to prove Dillinger's wrongdoing.

When Flynn is trying to assert his control over the MCP, the latter takes control of the laser and suddenly digitizes Flynn into the world inside the Computer World, where programs are physical characters that resemble their creators. Flynn and a number of other Programs are soon taken to meet Sark (Dillinger's counterpart in the digital world). Sark tells each of the Programs that either they can join the MCP willingly, or they will be forced to compete in gladiator-style games that will result in their eventual elimination. Each Program receives an identity disc that stores their actions and experiences, and also doubles as a powerful weapon.] For more about the story, it would be best if you watch Tron for yourself.
2. What/Who is Tron?

[Spoilers from TRON LEGACY: After Flynn's success in creating and entering the digital world, he brought Tron and a program upon his image Clu into the world to oversees the Programs and helping his vision to create a perfect Computer World. Over time, Clu feels his efforts have not been fully appreciated by Flynn and attempts a coup with some Programs against Flynn. as a result, Flynn is trapped in the Computer World and Tron is presumably derezzed (killed) by Clu (now Clu 2).]
3. What is The Grid?
The Grid or Game Grid is part of the Computer World where Programs play and compete in several Gladiator-like challenges. Some of the popular games in The Grid include Lightcycle racing, Disc War (or also known as Disc Arena) and a modified version of Jai alai.
NOTE: For the game-play of the real form of Jai alai, watch the video below:

4. Why is the disc been so essential for everyone in the Computer World?

| Light Disc used in 1982's Tron |
1. It records what you have learn, do and see in the Computer World.
2. It is used during the combat at The Grid (particularly Disc Arena); either to dodge opponent's disc or to throw it towards the opponent (as a weapon). Once the disc hits on the opponent, he or she will be instantly derezzed.
3. It stores some important informations about the Programs including their digital 'DNA' base or code written by the User.

6. How can one human get into the Computer World?
[Informations from TRON: In the original 1982's Tron movie, Kevin Flynn was kidnapped into the Computer World when he tried to take control over the Master Control Program (MCP). MCP gained control of the ENCOM's laser beam technology which is designated to digitize objects in the real world and turning into cluster of information in the form of bytes. Theoretically, the device is not able to work and ENCOM earlier intention is to use the device as a form of transportation, rather than creating a portal into the Computer World.] [Spoilers from TRON LEGACY: As indicated in Tron: Legacy, Sam Flynn found out that his father was working on some form of laser technology on the night he went missing. No matter what, it is believed that the laser technology is not complete yet.]
7. What other terms I need to know before I watch TRON: Legacy?
So far, I have introduced several terms already; including User, Program, Tron, Light Disc, The Grid and a few others. Here, we continue to discuss on several more terms that may be deemed necessary to know in prior of watching TRON: Legacy.

- The Dillingers: [Informations from TRON: In Tron, Ed Dillinger (David Warner) was the main antagonist together with his program called Sark. Ed Dillinger has been stealing informations from Flynn about new games, causing the resignation of Kevin Flynn from ENCOM. Eventually, Dillinger became the senior executive and utilize MCP to run the company. Kevin Flynn's attempted to breach it to retrieve important pieces of information in regards of Dillinger's wrongdoings.] [Spoilers from TRON LEGACY: The next line will be completely a spoiler: Ed Dillinger's son, Edward appeared in the early point of the movie at the scene during the executive meeting to launch the new OS. Edward was played by Cilian Murphy in an uncredited role.]
- Sirens: Sirens are the Program that operate The Grid game armory, equipping combatants with the armor needed to compete in the games. [Spoilers from TRON LEGACY:In the movie TRON: Legacy, there are four Sirens. One of them is Gem, an ISO who helped Sam Flynn to find Zuse at the End Of Line club.]

[Spoilers from TRON LEGACY: However, at the end of TRON: Legacy, it is revealed that Rinzler is actually TRON who was reprogrammed following the coup against Flynn back in the day.]
- End Of Line: There are double meaning for this term. [Informations from TRON: In the original Tron movie, the 'End Of Line' means an informal goodbye or phrase commonly used to indicate farewell.] The other meaning seems to be the reference to the End Of Line Club is an exclusive club owned by Castor, a flamboyant and vivacious program. The club is located on top of the tallest tower in Tron City and is headlined by two MP3s (Daft Punk).
- Derezzed: Derez is a term to describe someone or something disappearing or dissolving, essentially resulting in deletion. On the other hand, Rez is the opposite of the term.
- ISOs or Isomorphic Algorithms: ISOs are the race of Programs that aren't created by the Users and are self-created. Their existence is considered by Kevin Flynn as a miracle. However, Clu 2 considers them an obstruction in his mission to create the perfect system. The ISOs can be easily identified with their glowing symbols on their arm.

Tron Universe or the Computer World itself is a huge area of space within the computer. Travelling from Tron City to the opening input/output portal is tiresome. Therefore, Programs in the Computer World use various form of mode of transports are definitely necessary. Why don't you impressed others who have not watched Tron or Tron: Legacy by telling and explaining to them with these types of cool transportation medium in TRON: Legacy?
