Running Time: 153 minutes
Distributor: Paramount Pictures

Review: Four years ago, producer Steven Spielberg and director Michael Bay defied the impossibilities by pushing the limit of live-action with the movie Transformers. It engaged the cocktail of live human with CGI robots, a heavy metal battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. Of course, the franchise movie is adapted from one of the most popular Hasbro toys line-up and transforming it into a cow-cash machine. Four years gone and after three installments, the trilogy comes to an end. If you are disappointed with the second one, would you spare this last trip? If you have been waiting for this, is your expectation for Transformers series to end at a high note materialized? Read on to know more.

TRAILERS: WAR HORSE AND HORRIBLE BOSSES

Comments

About an hour ago, Green Tea Movie has introduced you to two brand new trailers on Brave and The Three Musketeers. On the second post of the day in regards of movie trailers, we have another two to show. First is the Steven Spielberg's upcoming drama War Horse and an upcoming summer's black comedy Horrible Bosses. Hit read more for the trailers and details.

TRAILERS: BRAVE AND THE THREE MUSKETEERS

Comments
This week, Green Tea Movie will feature four trailers in today's double post. In this post, we will look at Disney-Pixar's Brave and Summit's Three Musketeers 3D.

BRAVE

The Disney and Pixar's Brave (previously entitled The Bear and the Bow) is an upcoming computer-animated 3-D film. Unlike the other Pixar's works, this is the first time that the successful animation house will venture into the fairy tale genre, albeit been somewhat darker and more mature in tone than their previous films.

Here's the synopsis of the film:
"Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late."

Here is the teaser trailer of Brave which debuted with the release of Cars 2 over last weekend.

I have to say that this movie bears some resemblance with How to Train Your Dragon, based on the majestic cinematographic landscape and the usage of high Scottish accent. Brave makes it the first Pixar's movie that has a female lead role (protagonist). The film is currently scheduled for release on June 22, 2012 in the United States.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS 3-D

Paul W.S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers 3-D takes the classic Alexander Dumas novel of the same title into a new dimension; that's 3-D of course. The October 14 released film now has a brand new trailer, which deals more about the story and a set up for the swashbuckling adventure to deal three nemesis - namely Milady de Winter (Milla Jovovich), Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz) and Duke of Buckingham (Orlando Bloom). The synopsis is as follows: The hot-headed young D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) must unite with three formerly legendary but now down-on-their-luck Musketeers to prevent a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war. The three legendary warriors are Athos (Matthew Macfadyen), Porthos (Ray Stevenson) and Aramis (Luke Evans).

Enjoy the trailer below:

Malaysia audiences can catch this period swashbuckling adventure beginning 13 October 2011.

Now two downs, two to go. Stay tune for our second post in a while.

BOX OFFICE NEWS JUNE 24 - JUNE 26, 2011

Comments
This weekend is almost a repetition to last week. Two movies arrived at the Box Office, each playing to a different demographic target audience. Leading the market in a definite eye for the number one spot is Disney and Pixar's Cars 2, while Sony Pictures countering with their raunchy comedy Bad Teacher.

Riding on approximately 7,700 screens at 4,115 locations, Cars 2 delivered the fourth highest-grossing June opening weekend ever and the fifth highest-grossing opening weekend yet for a Pixar movie, behind Toy Story 3's $110.3 million, The Incredibles' $70.5 million, Finding Nemo's $70.3 million and Up's $68.1 million. The talking car sequel out-grossed the first Cars' $60.1 million opening weekend from June 2006, but trailed it in terms of estimated attendance. Cars 2's weekend was towards the back of the Pixar attendance pack, ahead of only A Bug's Life, Ratatouille and Toy Story. Distributor Walt Disney Pictures' exit polling indicated that Cars 2's audience was 53 percent male and 56 percent under 25 years old (36 percent was age 11 and younger).

In second, Bad Teacher bagged $31.6 million on around 3,700 screens at 3,049 locations, grading highly thanks to its relatable, outrageous and clearly-conveyed premise. That gross was greater than Bridesmaids's $26.2 million last month and was in the same range as Step Brothers and Knocked Up. According to distributor Sony Pictures, Bad Teacher's audience was 63 percent female and 57 percent aged 25 years and older, skewing a little less female and younger than Bridesmaids did.

Here are the top twelve box office of the weekend according to the studio estimate.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE GHOST PROTOCOL LEAKED TRAILER [UPDATED]

Comments

When Transformers: Dark of the Moon is released this weekend (or rather this Wednesday), the teaser trailer Paramount's stablemate - Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol will be attached and released together with it. For some times, we have been wondering and looking forward to seeing footage from the fourth installment in the popular franchise which is itself based from a popular retro TV series. I bet it might be materialized now following the leaked French trailer for the movie. Unfortunately, it is caught on video cam and dubbed in French! If you care to watch or don't mind about that, please do so with the embedded video below:

[UPDATED: A new English-language trailer which I have embedded below, enjoy!]

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol marks director Brad Bird live-action debut, after years of working with animation hits. Brad Bird is better known to have handle movies like The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille into a great hit, with the last two been Pixar's smash hits.

For now, all I can say is to wait for the proper trailer and do watch out at this space when it does come out. But one thing to note, sounds like Eminem has some touch on the trailer. The song that you can hear in the trailer is "Won't Back Down" which features Pink.

Brad Bird directs Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner, with Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Michael Nyqvist, Anil Kapoor, Lea Seydoux and Vladimir Mashkov. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opens December 16, 2011. J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot produces.

KUNG FU PANDA 2 IS THE CHAMP OF ANIMATION IN MAlAYSIA

Comments

First of all, Green tea Movie would like to congratulate United International Pictures Malaysia as their distributed animated feature "Kung Fu Panda 2" or known as "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom" in Malaysia for breaking the record for the highest grossing animation, according to a news we picked up from Cinema Online.

According to Cinema Online also, the record was achieved after the movie was released in the cinemas here for 28 days, eclipsing the previous champion - which was also the fellow UIP's animation, Madagascar 2. The firtst Kung Fu Panda movie is now pushed down a notch to hold the third highest in the history. Unfortunately, the news from Cinema Online does not come with an official box office tally. So we do some digging.

A check on the reliable-box office tracking, Box Office Mojo, here are the grosses for the three films:

KUNG FU PANDA: THE KABOOM OF DOOM - $ 5,787,494 (converted into RM 17.5 million)
* US$1 = RM3.036

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA - $ 2,589,522 (converted into RM 9.2 million)
* US$1 = RM3.55

KUNG FU PANDA - $ 2,779,067 (converted into RM 9.1 million)
* US$1 = RM3.26

Although Kung Fu Panda 2 did not raked as much money as its predecessor in the United States, here, the Malaysians are having so much fun with Po and his Furious Five gang. Currently, it is the top grossing film of the year 2011. By the way, read Green Tea Movie's review on Kung Fu Panda 2.

NEW TRAILER FOR APOLLO 18 OFFERS PARANORMAL ACTIVITY ON MOON

Comments

Initially, I suspected it might be some monster or alien invasion on our moon in the 70s when Timur Bekmembatov-produced found-footage horror Apollo 18 was first announced into making last year. The first trailer back then, which you can watch it here, offers a little sense of horror when two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon. They seemed to be disturbed by some unknown entity (most likely a space dog or alien bear, haha very funny!)

Now comes a brand new trailer that offers you a different perspective of the film now - been a paranormal. Watch the trailer below:

Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it's the real reason we've never gone back to the moon.

Dimension Films revealed the full trailer for the found footage horror/sci-fi hybrid for release on September 2 in the United States, after experiencing several release date re-shuffles few months ago. Apollo 18 will be released in Malaysia on September 8.

UNIVERSAL PICTURES ANNOUNCES FAST & FURIOUS 6 FOR MEMORIAL DAY 2013

Comments

We know that this day is coming and it comes today. Universal Picture's Fast and Furious franchise will go for another outing on the streets; the sixth to be exact. The yet-untitled sixth installment in the decade-old popular franchise (known now as Fast & Furious 6) has been slated for Memorial Day weekend (24 May) release in the year 2013, according to a story we picked up from Coming Soon and Deadline. Produced by Neal Moritz, the franchise has grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide since its first movie more than 10 years ago.

The franchise risked stall when a minor spin-off Tokyo Drift did not seem to have the sucker punch, opening to a mediocre result that almost put the street racing franchise into danger. Suddenly, the interest on the franchise rejuvenated and scoring a tremendous box office result, probably due to that all of the familiar faces from the original movie return in 2009's Fast & Furious. The success repeated again when the recent Fast Five grossed nearly $600 million for a lion share of the chest money, along with tagline been "the best in the franchise".

It seems brainer if Universal Pictures would love to do another round, since the post-credit ending perfectly sets up another story which is almost impossible that the sixth will not picked up that. The question remains, will director Justin Lin continues the push for franchise improvement? Back when Fast & Furious was released, he did somehow indicated about making it into a trilogy, so the sixth installment will be much about it. Is Fast and Furious Six heading to Berlin for the next pit stop?

Equally, there isn't any word on how much of the ensemble cast from Fast Five will be returning, but considering that they've established a new heist thriller format, one would expect at least Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson, who joined the franchise with the last film, playing a special forces agent sent to stop the streetracin' criminals.

Recently we heard that Vin Diesel may be focusing on continuing his Riddick adventure while Dwayne Johnson is in engagement to take on the role of Roadblock for Paramount's G.I. Joe's sequel. Nevertheless, those projects are aiming for 2012 or early 2013's release, thus may allow them to return.

Deadline is also reporting that Universal has picked June 28, 2013 for the horror-comedy R.I.P.D. (short for "Rest in Peace Department"), starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges and directed by Robert Schwentke (Red). That's also produced by Neal Moritz with Michael Fottrell and Mike Richardson from Dark Horse Entertainment.

MOVE AWAY 3-D, SPY KIDS 4 IS IN 4-D

Comments

The hypes over 3-D movies may just start to bloom in Malaysia but we have seen a lot of 3-D movies under-performing at the US Box Office chart. Recent 3D movies like Kung Fu Panda 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean 4 grossed lesser than their predecessors, although both should have benefited from the extra surcharge of 3-Ds. The problem could spells the beginning of the downward interest on 3-D movies in the Hollywood. For Malaysian, we have just tasted the appetizers. For Hollywood, it's the dessert hour when it is about that time to think-tank some fresh new idea. Although it is not really a new idea, considering the same concept and technology has existed in Japan for quite some times, Hollywood may find itself a new trend for 4-D. So, move away 3-D, the extra, extra dimensional is coming.

The upcoming Robert Rodriguez's project, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World 4-D, the sequel to the Spy Kids franchise may start the new revolution in the cinema industry by resurrecting the aroma-enhanced technology that once used during the 50s. In 2003, Spy Kids 3-D, the predecessor did revolutionized the idea and interests on making 3-D movies back then. 8 years later, another revolution is about to be created. Head over to USA Today for the details. The movie opens on August 19 in the United States.

"After Spy Kids 3, I had to do something new, add another surprise," says Rodriguez in an interview with the USA Today. As I said, you can read the full article at USA Today in regards the history of 4-D and its recent revival at the Japanese industry.

Basically, Rodriguez is going to use Aromascope where each movie audience will be given a card loaded with eight different smells for free at 2-D and 3-D showings. How is it works you wonder? It is more interactive and more towards allowing the audience to experience touch-and-sniff now by wiping your finger over the scent designated. A tutorial will be given by Ricky Gervais, who speaks for the movie's robotic dog, will play before the story begins.

Now have a look at the trailer below and start smelling. Chances are and hopefully not some smells of garlic or farts! Okay, the trailer looks stupid!!

NEW POSTER AND TRAILER FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Comments

After enduring a rather exhausting summer of superhero movies - from May's Thor to June's X-Men: First Class and Green Lantern, here comes the last bit of dust. Captain America: First Avengers will open late next month in 2D, 3D and regular formats. Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures have enrolled the latest string of marketing blitz by revealing the latest poster and trailer. Here are the latest if you will, starting with the poster below:

The latest poster is not too impressive. It is just another "mug-shot" of Chris Evans's titular role, only now it was shot from the other side. But hey, we already have the same mug-shot style from this angle - remember Brad Pitt in Troy? Oh yes, if you are noticing that the shield is still there and chances are, you will notice that no other casting members, especially Red Skull (played by Hugo Weaving) are to be seen in the one-piece. Nevertheless, it is still a great poster to marvel or to keep. I'm still going to watch this, right?

Now, for the latest trailer, glued your eye to the video embedded below:

he trailer offers more story and events, condensed in a rather long trailer that clocks at 150 seconds - still not as long as X-Men: First Class one!

Directed by Joe Johnston, the action adventure stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough. Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America

JAMIE FOXX CONFIRMED FOR DJANGO UNCHAINED

Comments

Quentin Tarantino's next movie project has already secured a lead role. Coming hot on pace after his Best Picture nomination and screenplay for the 2009's Inglourious Basterds, Tarantino is now gearing up for the next project entitled Django Unchained. The movie is a revenge-driven "Southern" movie about an American slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter to save his wife from an evil plantation owner. Now get ready for the big part?

Yes, of course, as the title of this article has clearly pointed out that Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx appears to have won the title role in Django Unchained, playing the American slave. The role has been heavily speculated over the past several weeks and even the names like Will Smith and Idris Elba were mentioned around the net. Ultimately, the star of films like Ray, Dreamgirls, Collateral and Miami Vice has won it.

Now the other castings also look very interesting indeed. Mention the world German bounty hunter, you got Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz in it. Then, we have the evil plantation owner for which it ahs been rumored and possibly played by Academy Award nominee Leonardo DiCaprio. With Quentin Tarantino directs and writes, Django Unchained has Academy Awards written all over.

The production will start soon and it is expected to be released on Christmas 2012.

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN COMPLETES ITS MAJOR CASTINGS WITH RAY WINSTONE

Comments

The Snow White folk tale is now one of the most talked about subject matters in the Hollywood these days. Consider this, Relativity Media and Universal Pictures are racing each other to develop their own take of the popular franchise. For those who are still confused about the two different projects on-going at the moment, best you should have read this article first before you decided to go on reading this. To be safe and to avoid confusion of course!

News round up from The Hollywood Reporter has now reported that Universal Picture's version has rounded up the castings of the seven dwarfs. Contrary to the previous report this week on Green Tea Movie's article which took its source from Slash Film where Universal Pictures is aiming for eight dwarfs to be featured on their revisionist version of Snow White. Nevertheless, we are sure that the last one will come pretty soon. With THR's report that British actors Ray Winstone joining the cast, we now have seven dwarfs cast with the complete list as follows:
  • Ian McShane as Caesar: the eldest, with the longest beard.
  • Stephen Graham as Nero: the angry one.
  • Eddie Izzard as Tiberius: the biggest and burliest.
  • Eddie Marsan and Ray Winstone as Hadrian and Trajan, respectively: the twins.
  • Bob Hoskins as Constantine: solemn and blind.
  • Toby Jones as Claudius: the timid one.
What's left in the list of eight dwarfs is the character Gus: young, unbearded, seemingly smitten with Snow White (as described by Slash Film).

Rupert Sanders will direct Snow White and the Huntsman from a script by Evan Daugherty. The movie will follows Eric, the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) been charged by the evil queen (Charlize Theron) with killing Snow White (Kristen Stewart). Instead of killing her, Eric mentors her in the ways of survival and combat. Sam Claflin (Ian McShane’s co-star in the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film) will play the Prince in the movie. Shooting is set to start in August, for June 1, 2012 release.

TRAILER FOR A DANGEROUS METHOD MAKES IT AN OSCAR RUNNER

Comments

Back in the year of 2008, I remembered watching a decent movie about sex trafficking drama entitled "Eastern Promises", directed by David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn of Lord of the Rings) and Naomi Watts (The Ring). It earned Mortensen an Oscar nominee for Best Actor, for his spectacular and excellent portrayal as a Russian mob and a double agent in the movie. I am aware that not many of you are familiar with Cronenberg's works like 1986's "The Fly" or 2005's "A History of Violence"; both earned a respectable applauds from the critics.

Now fast-forward to the year 2011, Cronenberg directed a new movie called "A Dangerous Method" and stars Mortensen once again, along with X-Men's Magneto's Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley. The trailer of the movie is now available online, for which you can watch below:

Plot-wise, the historical film is set on the eve of the World War I, which is based on the turbulent relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung (played by Michael Fassbender), his mentor Sigmund Freud (played by Viggo Mortensen) , and Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), the troubled but beautiful young woman who comes between them. The script is adapted by Academy Award-winning writer Christopher Hampton from his 2002 stage play The Talking Cure, itself based on the 1993 non-fiction book by John Kerr, A Most Dangerous Method.

When the project was first announced, it didn't bothered me much due to the subject matter this movie is carrying. I am not sure how to imagine this movie come into live. Yes, there are plenty of such movies but they seldom push things further then just dealing about sexual obsession or flirty bed talk. Apparently, this movie is based on 'some true story' that sets during the early of 20th century with two psychiatrists dealing a case of one Russian woman, of whom became a central of attraction between the two greatest minds.

Not until the recent news have pointed out that this latest effort by David Cronenberg may be one of the front runner to next season's awards race. Judging by the trailer, I love the setting and the premise of the movie. To treat this Russian woman, Dr Freud develops a method that involves a lot of kinky stuffs and sexual enhancement - BDSM (yes, the scene when Keira's character said "punish me"). Indeed, the real life Dr. Segmund Freud holds one philosophy that creates a whole lot of controversy; "sexual drives as the primary motivational forces of human life". In the end, both of them develop a relationship that pushes beyond the doctor-patient relationship.

"A Dangerous Method" does not have an opening date yet, although it will likely released at the end of this year to capitalize the award season.

MOVIE REVIEW UNDER THE RADAR - PART ONE: RED RIDING HOOD, JUST GO WITH IT

Comments
Hey folks, maintaining sites like the one you are reading are never easy, especially when there is only one author to do all the stuffs. Sometimes, certain movies when under the radar and it is a little shame that these movies did not made it into the one-article movie review. There are times, we did not get them a proper treatment. The facts are; sometimes these movies are watched after the theatrical run has ended in the local cinemas and sometimes we just too hectic to write one especially when there are tonnes of movies released in within a week.

Thus, I think it is proper to give mention these movies in brief and after searching through the list of watched movies that did not made it on the review articles; here is one to compensate!

RED RIDING HOOD (PG13)

Genre: Thriller/Drama
Release Date: 21 April 2011
Running Time: 93 minutes
Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures
Director: Catherine Hardwicke
Screenplay: David Johnson
Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Shiloh Fernandez, Gary Oldman, Max Irons, Virginia Madsen, Julie Christie

Plot: Valerie (Amanda Seyfried) is a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie's older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. But Solomon's arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast-one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect...and bait.

Short Review: Take the classic, twist it and make it a horror thriller if you will. This movie has some 'Twilight' taste buttering on it - since the plot clearly takes the element of complicated love triangle. It is visually beautiful but not charming. The plot is attentively treated but still looks messy. Perhaps and partly, the lazy script makes the plot sounds so cliched and did I mentioned the element of 'Twilight' presented within it? Oh I did. Amanda Seyfried is amazing but she has no opposite stars to make it through, which is a shame! Gary Oldman is as reliable as always. Maybe I am a man and I think it's just so-so, please forgive me!

THE RATING:
Story: 2.5
Casts: 3.0
Cinematography: 3.5

JUST GO WITH IT (18)

Genre: Comedy/Romance
Release Date: 31 March 2011
Running Time: 117 minutes
Distributor: Sony Pictures
Director: Dennis Dugan
Screenplay: Allan Loeb, Timothy Dowling
Starring: Adam Sandler, Jennifer aniston, Nick Sawrdson, Nicole Kidman, Brooklyn Decker

Plot: In Just Go With It, a plastic surgeon, romancing a much younger schoolteacher, enlists his loyal assistant to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife, in order to cover up a careless lie. When more lies backfire, the assistant's kids become involved, and everyone heads off for a weekend in Hawaii that will change all their lives.

Short Review: Zany, cheesy and ridiculous. In the end of the day, we still like Adam Sandler and his movies. Welcome to the reality, no matter how stupid Zohan is or how Grown Up turns out to be a piece of junk, we still enjoyed them. This one, albeit a little better than those, critically, does not change the fact at all. Watching this movie is similar like 'just go with it', mindless escapism that channels the fun and enjoyment. It has a great story to begin with - pretending to be married (or used to be) but also been ridiculous enough. In addition, the movie proved to you that it is able, amazingly to keep you glued all the time. It is as raunchy (not so bad) as ever and also as romantic as ever. Long gone the day when we used to have great rom-com like '50 First Date' - Just Go With It is still not there yet!

THE RATING:
Story: 3.0
Casts: 3.5
Cinematography: 3.0
Effects: 3.0

UNIVERSAL'S SNOW WHITE PROJECT WILL HAVE EIGHT DWARFS, IAN McSHANE IS THE FIRST

Comments

We all know that Universal Pictures and Relativity Media are both producing their own takes on the Snow White movie projects. You can read the distinguished points and differences that set both movie apart on this article I posted last month at this link.

Once again, I want to remind you that this two projects are not the same. Points to ponder, once again are that:
  • UNIVERSAL'S Snow White and the Huntsman has Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. Release date is June 1 next year and directed by Rupert Sanders.
  • RELATIVITY's Untitled Snow White Project has Lily Collins, Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer. Release date is March 16.
For some update on Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman, it is now revealed that the Universal's version will have eight dwarf instead of traditional seven. In addition to that, their names will be after the Roman rulers. It seems like they have found the first dwarf, in the form of Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides).

McShane is casted as Ceasar, the oldest of the eight, and an enemy to the Queen and old friend to Eric, the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth). The complete list of the eight dwarfs are as follow:

  • Caesar: the eldest, with the longest beard.
  • Nero: the angry one.
  • Tiberius: the biggest and burliest.
  • Hadrian and Trajan: the twins.
  • Constantine: solemn and blind.
  • Claudius: the timid one.

NEW POSTER AND TRAILER FOR PUSS IN BOOTS

Comments

Now that a poster has debuted online thanks to Yahoo Movie, I am pretty sure the next to come is a brand new trailer as well. Indeed we have both coming your way after the jump.

Opening in 3D, 2D and Imax 3D this Novmeber 4 (in United States, Malaysian release date is currently scheduled for November 24), DreamWorks Animations' presents Puss in Boots. The popular character from the Shrek franchise will have its own movie to fill off with the extreme adventure, all in the nine lifetimes. Now people may say that Shrek might have some influence on this but I assured you that the Puss in Boot's adventures highlighted in the movie is dated back before his encounter with Shrek. Now that it seems imminent that almost everyone does not enjoy watching the last two Shrek movies, aye! Now here is the poster:

The new spin-off animation follows Puss (Antonio Banderas) on a quest to save the world, when he is joined by the likes of the clumsy Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and the slinky Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek). Just like in Shrek, the movie will features some elements from the classical fairytales in the movie. The three must save the world from the evil deeds of Jack and Jill ((Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris), the two murderess outlaws and the films main antagonists. Now you can watch the trailer embedded below:

Puss in Boots is being produced by DreamWorks Animation, directed by Chris Miller (who directed Shrek the Third in 2007), executive produced by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Blade II, Pan's Labyrinth), written by Tom Wheeler and David H. Steinberg. Notice the music in the video been as familiar as the Pirates of the Caribbean (Henry Jackman is scoring anyway, that explains).

Now, he's been a bad kitty!

BOX OFFICE NEWS JUNE 17 - JUNE 19, 2011

Comments
This weekend, two movies arrived at the Box Office, each playing to a different demographic target audience. Warner Bros and DC Comics adaptation of Green Lantern played out to the comic fan-base while 20th Century Fox provided family entertainment with Mr Popper's Penguins. However, the opening gross for both movies seems a little underwhelming.

Green Lantern opened to an estimated $52.7 million from 7,200 screens at 3,816 locations. The start was behind X-Men: First Class's $55.1 million and Thor's $65.7 million, both were fellow superhero movies that opened earlier this year. On Friday's opening day, it grossed $21.6 million which also included $3.35 million midnight gross. Early estimate shows that the critically-panned comic adaptation suffered bad words-of-mouth where it dropped 22% on Saturday and a further 15% slide on Sunday, giving Friday to weekend ratio gross at 0.41.

3D presentations of Green Lantern accounted for 45% of total gross, comparable to Kung Fu Panda 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Recently, Hollywood movies suffered lower sales for their 3D sections, with none of the titles managed to even reach Thor's 60% 3D share. This is significant as most of the audiences may have experiencing fatigues for the extra-dimensional. It is expected that the trend may be reversed at the end of this month when the third Transformers movie opens. Distributor Warner Bros.' exit polling indicated that 64 percent of Green Lantern's audience was male and 63 percent was over 25 years old (19 percent was under 18).

Opening on third at the weekend, Jim Carrey's Mr Popper's Penguins brought in a tepid gross of an estimated $18.2 million from 4,200 screens at 3,339 locations. The family-vehicle comedy that was adapted from Richard and Florence Atwater's classic of similar title, but has been altered to set in modern day. The movie received mixed reviews but family movies tend to have some form of lagging during the summer season. Distributor 20th Century Fox's research showed that 56 percent of Mr. Popper's audience was female and 58 percent was under 25 years old.

Here are the top twelve box office of the weekend according to the studio estimation.

TRAILER: CONAN THE BARBARIAN NOW HAS A RED BAND FEEL

Comments

"When a barbarian feels thirst, it is a thirst for blood" - that's the latest remark uttered by Conan, as portrayed by Jason Momoa in the new trailer feature. Yes, the latest trailer for Conan the Barbarian offers the red band feel this time - meaning you have to be over 17 to be able to watch this! Yes, the Lionsgate-produced action-adventure-fantasy movie that itself is a sort of remake or reboot to the Conan movies by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 80s, is directed by Marcus Nispel and stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ron Perlman, Leo Howard, Steve O'Donnell, Raad Rawi Fassir, Nonso Anozie, Bob Sapp and Milton Welsh.

Catch the red band trailer below (you have an option of viewing using Trailer Addict or Youtube below). Once again, strong warning for plenty of bloody action and fornication act as well:

Plot synopsis of Conan the Barbarian sounds like this:
"After his father is murdered and village destroyed, Conan ventures into an unforgiving world where he survives as a thief, pirate, and warrior. On his path of wanton adventure and women, Conan chances upon the warlord responsible for his tribe’s destruction. As he tracks Khalar Zym, Conan battles monsters, Zym's henchmen, and Marique, a powerful witch."

The bloody action flick will find its thirst quenched coming this August 19 in the United States while it will arrives in Malaysia a week later. Of course, it will be featured in normal format and in post 3D conversion.

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON SOUNDTRACK PROMO CLIP

Comments
The countdown clock is ticking closer to that date of June 29. On June 29, Transformers: Dark of the Moon will arrived to get the last round of robot-fighting kicking. Yes, we all know that this will be the end of Michael Bay's trilogy. However, no one can guarantee if the fourth movie may just popped out of nowhere without the involvement of Bay or even its star, Shia LaBeouf. Despite the heated debate is on-going around over the possibility of the next sequel, no one at this point can assure of that. Thus, I think we all should focus on the third installment and things will take into an event after that.

Now in case you missed it, a few days ago, Green Tea Movie posted eight brand new still images form the movie, in which you can view at this link. Now, Paramount Pictures has released the soundtrack promo clip which features Linkin Park's "Iridescent" as the first official single, as well as some unseen footage from the movie. Now, head down to watch the promo clip:

Now, we have checked several sources on the net, the soundtrack is now available on store. Green tea Movie has learnt that Paramore and Goo Goo Dolls will also featured their respective singles soon. For more of this, you can go to my "sister blog" at Green Tea World in the next few days to learn more about the soundtrack.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is arriving June 29, which follows a mysterious event from Earth's past erupts into the present day and threatens to bring a war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us. Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk and John Turturro star. Leonard Nimoy also voiced Sentinel Prime in the film.
