MOVIE REVIEW: CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Comments
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER (PG13)

Genre: Action/Adventure
Release Date: 28 July 2011
Running Time: 121 minutes
Distributor: Paramount Pictures (United International Pictures)
Director: Joe Johnston
Screenplay: Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely
Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Shaw, Hayley Atwell, Dominic Copper

Plot: Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)

Review: In a busy summer season where audiences find themselves been slaughtered by four major superhero movies in under tight 12 weeks window, there might or might not be a room for the last one. By this day, 'superhero-fatigueness-syndrome' does seem imminent after the decent 'Thor', excellent 'X-Men: First Class' and the lousy 'Green Lantern' have been offered on the table earlier the season. However, all three have failed to live up to the box office expectation of cash-cowing the audience and fan boys. The fourth one is not expected to do anyway better. While Captain America: The First Avenger is the last to come for this summer, it certainly doesn't come unnoticed!

NEW BOURNE LEGACY CASTING HAVE JOAN ALLEN AND ALBERT FINNEY BACK

Comments

The fourth Bourne movie has been planned at the Universal Pictures for quite some time now. At the moment, the project will move on without the enrollment of Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. Although the star has opt not to return, Universal Pictures' plan to move on with the project has caused plenty of speculations that it might be going for a reboot or something else. Then, Jeremy Renner was cast as the lead role to play another assassin from the same CIA's dirty project that gave birth to Bourne. Today, the latest has it all confirms about its continuity status in the Bourne franchise when Joan Allen and Albert Finney are cast for the new one as well. Details right after the jump.

HAPPY FEET TWO HAS A NEW POSTER AND TRAILER

Comments

Warner Bros featured and released a brand new poster and a decent trailer for the upcoming dance animation "Happy Feet Two". The sequel to the popular and 'weird' dancing penguin animation is boosting a huge voice casting talents including Brad Pitt, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Robin Williams and P!nk. I said 'weird' because I don't have that much of love for the first movie but I was mesmerized by the way they presented their green and earth friendly messages in the movie. Nevertheless, the first one was a cute cartoon and I hope this sequel will be too. Now, you can view both of them after the jump in this post.

SAM RAIMI BEGINS SHOOTING OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Comments

We have some great news here. While he may not have do another Spider-Man movie with Sony Pictures (in which the studio now making the project as a standalone reboot), it's been a while since we heard about his upcoming project 'Oz the Great and Powerful'. The last we heard was about the star-studded casting have been going around - attracting A-list talents like James Franco, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams to on board the supposedly prequel to the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz". Today, Walt Disney Pictures has announced that the movie has began shooting in Michigan. More details on the plot synopsis after the jump.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN WILL BE IN IMAX 3D

Comments

We have seen the lackluster teaser from Marc Webb's upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man", for which you can watch again at this link. Over the week, there have been quite a mixed reactions in regards to that teaser of the reboot movie about the web-slinging superhero, particularly the first-person-view scene in the last 40 seconds of the trailer that seem to have make many people upset. Although I do not enjoy it myself, "The Amazing Spider-Man" remains in the list of 2012 must watch movie, nevertheless. Call it a gimmick or what, The Amazing Spider-Man will be joining the recent trend of tentpole movies going for IMAX 3D. Read more details after the jump.

What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can't even be imagined.

Review: Once upon a time, a gang of buddies had a drink or two on top of the roof. So a drink or two did no harm to the drinking buddies right? Why not considering in a couple of days time, one of their best friend will embark into a married life and let’s make a toast for him. What happens next was described in the movie title itself. The next morning, they woke up in a strange feeling of headache, nausea and dysphoria – classical symptoms of hangover. Ouch, what a wild night the gang has experienced by creating havoc, chaos and plenty of mess up with the criminal gangs too. Back then, it was an awesome and fresh adventure of a lifetime. Two years later, the same things happen again. Another adventure of awesomeness or just a recycle of everything we have seen? Read more after the jump.

BOX OFFICE NEWS JULY 22 - JULY 24, 2011

Comments

Not really the end result I'm intended for. While earlier this week, I have been predicting Marvel's third superhero movie of the summer would fallen behind the wizard boy, I was wrong. With a staggering 72% drop on ticket sales for Harry Potter from its mega opening, Captain America: The First Avenger debuted to the pole with a decent result, comparable to Thor's opening from May. It's Marvel superheroes for another win. Read after the jump for this weekend box office report from the stateside.

MOVIE REVIEW: HANNA

Comments
HANNA (PG13)

Genre: Action/Adventure/Thriller
Release Date: 21 July 2011
Running Time: 111 minutes
Distributor: Sony Pictures, Focus Features
Director: Joe Wright
Screenplay: David Farr and Seth Lochhead
Starring: Eric Bana, Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, Olivia Williams, Tom Hollander

Plot: Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) is 16 years old. She is bright, inquisitive, and a devoted daughter. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a soldier; these come from being raised by her widowed father Erik (Eric Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of North Finland. Erik has taught Hanna to hunt, put her through extreme self-defense workouts, and home-schooled her with only an encyclopedia and a book of fairy tales. Hanna has been living a life unlike any other teenager; her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. But out in the world there is unfinished business for Hanna's family, and it is with a combination of pride and apprehension that Erik realizes his daughter can no longer be held back.

Review: Government agency always comes with a dirty secret that they would like to dispose. Super solider program, artificial intelligence and spy hacking are not really new in the current world of Hollywood model to establish a thriller movie about someone trying to take down the whole agency for getting rid of them somehow or possibly tormenting their past life for good. There are people who will never stop at anything to go against these questionable secrets and we know Hollywood can do best of it when it comes to this. Move aside everyone. Here comes Hanna, an energetic but cold in heart young assassin who will come to answer the unspeakable challenge to take down CIA single-handedly just like what and how Jason Bourne and Evelyn Salt did in the past. Hit after the jump for more.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 IS HERE WITH A TRAILER

Comments

Paramount Pictures' Paranormal Activity is just one of those horror movie that makes use of two important things - ultra-low-budget to make tonnes of money and found-footage horror is still quite the thing in Hollywood. Two Paranormal Activity movies scored pretty decently in terms of review here at Green Tea Movie, but it only takes in $370 million box office receipt against $4 million budget to make it a no-brainer if Paramount Pictures doesn't go for the third round. It seems they did and here is the first footage trailer of Paranormal Activity 3 which you can view after the jump.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN TEASER TRAILER IS OFFICIALLY HERE

Comments

Similarly to what happened to the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, the new teaser trailer for Sony Pictures' upcoming summer blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man has received plenty of online leaks over the last couple of days before we have one legitimate teaser uploaded online. Filmed on a refrigerated soundstage with real Emperor Penguins, Mr. Popper's Penguins is a contemporary adaptation of the classic book.

Review: Move aside talking animals, I despise you! In the world when Hollywood movies seem to be catering this new strange-bond-relationship between human and animals that can talk, all got hair-wire and sense of logic is gone. For years, talking animals have invaded our sanity - Yogi Bear, Hop, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Cats and Dogs; and not to mention, the upcoming Zookeeper. Thanks to those movies, now I feel that my love for animals have lost due to the annoying little creatures - yes they give you no cuteness, only mess that you need to clean up. Fortunately, there are still some animals willing to sign up for a movie; without that talking component. Never since "Marley and Me" do I feel reconnect to the lost magical kinetic bond with animals that re-establishes on this latest Jim Carrey vehicle family comedy. Read on for more review after the jump.

Comments
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2 (PG13)

Genre: Adventure/Fantasy

Running Time: 130 minutes
Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures
Director: David Yate

But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.

Review: [Minimal Plot Spoilers] Warner Bros marketing campaign has been emphasizing greatly on the tagline "It All Ends 7.15" for this final movie in the popular saga. In case you did not know, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the second half adaptation taken from the seventh book in the Harry Potter series. It spawns a total of 8 movies, generating billions of dollar on box office, DVD, television rights, merchandise and of course to the author J.K. Rowling herself. It is time to bid farewell to the popular series but do dramatic plot and emotional goodbye to the characters overwhelm the need for great quality of the movie itself? More details after the jump.

Nevertheless, Warner Bros has unveiled their second trailers of their movies this week, after Sherlock Holmes 2 yesterday. Here comes Contagion, which you can view right after the jump.

Hey folks, maintaining sites like the one you are reading are never easy, especially when there is only one author to do all the stuffs. CHRISTOPHER NOLAN PRODUCES A NEW SUPERNATURAL THRILLER BY KEITH GORDON

Comments

Critical acclaimed director Christopher Nolan has shaped various movies along his amazing career by turning some movie premise into a 'money-making machine' for Warner Bros either by writing or/and directing. Movies like Inception, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins and The Prestige are some of those mega-hits that redefine the visionary push to challenge the craftsmanship on the story, script and direction to make an unique film on its own.

So far, Nolan has only gotten involved in producing a movie in which he is not going to direct - that's the new Superman reboot, Man of Steel under the direction of Zack Snyder. Now that an article from Deadline has pointed out that Nolan may or have added another picture into his producing duty. Nolan's company, Syncopy, has set up a supernatural thriller at Warner Bros and hired Keith Gordon to write and direct it. Nolan and partner Emma Thomas will executive producing the feature.

INTERNATIONAL TEASER FOR TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY

Comments

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is an upcoming film directed by Swedish filmmaker Thomas Alfredson; which is itself based on the 1974 novel of the same name by John le Carre. In case you do not know who Thomas Alfredson is, he is the man who helm one of my favorite Swedish movie of all time - the disturbing adaptation of Let the Right One In (Lat den ratte komma in). Few years ago, Alfredson made some international headlines with his critical direction that showcased his ability and attentive nature for the source material. It is unfortunate that the horror flick missed out from most major award season, rather basking itself with some commendable awards. This year however, Alfredson might have another shot for Oscar, as many have deemed it as one of the potential front runner.

The international teaser of the British's Working Title Films and French's StudioCanal production is now online, courtesy of Coming Soon. Watch the trailer after the jump.
