TOP 10 WORST REVIEWED MOVIES OF THE YEAR

Comments
Do you feel the beats for 2012 yet? Surprisingly I don't because of this stupid exams coming in next week. Even with the exams coming I still manage to steal some time to scribble you this.

2011 has been a rather under-performing year as we lack the excitement of Inception; the funky-teasing The Social Network and the heart-warming Toy Story 3. Nevertheless, 2011 also serves as a year when many films perform better than the early expectation. Unfortunately, as always, not all strike the gold. Continuing the tradition of ushering into a new year, Green Tea Movie presents to you the list of worst-reviewed movies of the year. Strictly embedded within the rating scheme, here are the top ten movies Green Tea Movie wishes to debunk.

*NOTE: (1) The list is highly-based on Green Tea Movie's opinion and does not reflect external or general consensus. (2) To avoid biased reviews, I have omitted Chinese and local movies, as well as movies released last year. Prime example would be The Tourist which I watched on 1 January 2011. (3) The list covers movies watched from 31 December 2010 till 30 December 2011.

Greetings!

We are now left with merely 50 hours before we will be ushering into a brand new year. New year means new hope and resolution! I hope 2012 will be a great year to everyone. The year 2011 marks Green Tea Movie's fourth year in movie blogging 'business' - a mark I have never thought would be achievable when I started this blog in 2008.

Green Tea Movie continues more update on latest trailer assault. Like I have mentioned last week, the days leading up to the closing of 2011 will be bombarded by plenty of trailer offerings. We have a brand new one today in the form of Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus'. For those of you who didn't know, 'Prometheus' is an upcoming sci-fi flick that will be a prequel to the 1979 horror film 'Alien' but the events of the film will not precede any of the previously established characters or story lines from the Alien franchise. Hey, excited for the trailer? Catch it right after the jump.

TRAILER: WELCOME TO THE HOBBIT MY FRIENDS!

Comments

The production of The Hobbit has been stalled for years now that in early stage, many fear that this project would not get a head-start if MGM, the right holder does not settle its bankruptcy soon. Nevertheless, that misery chapter has gone and now we have a proper movie to watch. Warner Bros and New Line Cinemas have unveiled the first look in the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This is of course the first part of the two-planned movies taken as an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. The first look will be upon you in the form of teaser trailer. Catch it right after the jump.

TRAILER: WRATH OF THE TITANS, CHEESY BUT MAY LOOK BETTER

Comments

Warner Bros has unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming fantasy action sequel, 'Wrath of the Titans'. The movie will follow ten years after the story and events in the foul-tasted 2009 movie 'Clash of the Titans' that has been critically slammed for the poor use of 3D and inattentive-incoherent plot. Well, Warner Bros must have some confidence on this one as their best bet would be that this one will be better than the first one, hence green-lighting this risky project sequel. The trailer is coming up right after the jump.

BOX OFFICE: SEQUELS LED BY SHERLOCK HOLMES 2 SLOW

Comments

This week, the US Box Office did not did way better than expected. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadow, Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol debuted on a week when three sequels fated to rule.

Sherlock Holmes sequel fared only US$40.0 million, which was down from 2009 predecessor's US$ 62.3 million over the Christmas week. The sequel opened at 3,703 locations for an average of $10,807 - pretty solid but not hysterical. The weekend gross was shocking considering how the premise has a well-liked original picture, thus a built-in crowd should have been installed to drive the movie to open bigger. Unfortunately, that did not materialize and it would left to battle for more numbers in the coming holiday weeks. Distributor Warner Bros. Pictures is reporting that the audience was 59 percent male and 50 percent under the age of 35, and that it received an "A-" CinemaScore.

While Tom Cruise is kicking butts this week, he has a new film coming out in six months. The teaser is out and you can view below. Along with that, we also have teasers for The Dictator which we have our funnyman Bruno aka Borat coming out from the Republic of Wadiya to New York. Then, check your testosterone level with the brand new teasing from The Expendables 2 as they are back to thrill you with more. All of these, right after the jump.

TRAILER: G.I. JOE RETALIATION LOOKS PROMISING

Comments

As I have said, this will be a busy week for tentpole movies to receive new teaser or trailer. Yesterday, Sony Pictures unveiled the new first trailer for 'Men In Black 3' with time-jumping meet with some skepticism if it will be any good. Still, the MIB3 looks okay on superficial but I guess we'll need more reasons to say yes! Today, Paramount Pictures unveiled the new trailer for their next summer tentpole sequel to the 2009 lukewarm franchise starter G.I. Joe. You can watch the trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation right after the break.

TRAILER: MEN IN BLACK 3 OFFERS TIME JUMP

Comments

In the week when we expect plenty of trailers to arrive, Sony Pictures get a head start by unveiling the latest, third installment in the Men In Black saga. Simply entitled Men In Black 3, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return as Agent Jay (J) and Kay (K) from the agency that monitors extraterrestrial activity on Earth. This time, J is forced to time travel back to the 60s in order to avoid the death of K which if he failed to do so, the entire future will be disrupted. Watch the trailer after the jump.

BOX OFFICE: NEW YEAR'S EVE LEADS A WEAK WEEK

Comments

This week, the box office performance in the Northern America slumped to the lowest point of the year. With only US$ 13.7 million in hand, the ensemble-cast romantic movie, 'New Year's Eve' leads this week's weak field ahead of Jonah Hill's 'The Sitter' which opens at second. 'New Year's Eve' failed to capitalize the opportunity to go stronger despite having famous stars in it. The Garry Marshall-directed romantic comedy failed even harder when compared to the director's last effort 'Valentine's Day' which grossed four times the amount this one made. To make it three-strikes, the movie was critically slammed and could possibly ended up been one of the worst of the year.

TDKR VIRAL CONTINUES WITH OPERATION EARLY BIRD

Comments

Yesterday, Green Tea Movie!! featured the story that the viral marketing campaign seems to have begun for Christopher Nolan's upcoming 'The Dark Knight Rises'. The first viral campaign had two sheets of documents; pulled out directly from the CIA files showing some classified paperwork about someone named Leonid Pavel . Yesterday, many were left pondering on how or who or why Dr Leonid Pavel, a supposedly missing Russian scientist; could have anything to do with the story in the closing chapter for the Batman saga. Yes, there are some other arguments if it was actually a viral campaign for some other movies. I have already said that it could be and most probably had something to do with TDKR. Now, it seems a new piece of viral campaign has emerged. Read right after the jump.

IS THIS DR LEONID PAVEL IN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES FOR REAL?

Comments

It seems most likely that the viral marketing for this summer Christopher Nolan's conclusion to the dark knight saga has just begun. Several websites across the net have posted this mysterious photo of what appears to be a sheet from the CIA documents that contains mugshots as well as some interesting description about Dr. Leonid Pavel. Many believe that this must have something to do with The Dark Knight Rises - considering certain factors to point out to that fact. Some thinks otherwise. Read more after the jump.

TRAILER: JOHN CARTER'S LATEST BRINGS SOMETHING ON THE TABLE

Comments

Walt Disney has unveiled the latest feature trailer from the upcoming Spring's adventure John Carter online. The latest trailer can be viewed right after the jump. The 121-second trailer gives the audience more on dialogue, actions and Mars. But one thing does bother me - a glowing red-yellow-green version of Avatar?
