TRAILER: OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN

When I read about this project, I was uber-excited by the fact that this presidential thriller has Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Shooter) on board and featuring a great ensemble casting like Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Gerard Butler, Rick Yune and Angela Bassett. That as 2012. Fast forward to 2013, we got a new trailer for this trailer and it keeps me thinking of one word, no two words as the matter of fact - Red Dawn. The Hollywood demonetization of North Korea continues. But then, there are not that much of viable human enemy to explore, so the North Korean, by logic is a subtle one. Anyway, the trailer is right up after the break.

OPINION: Despite the CGI glitches in some part, I am still curious how this action journey will ends up. Gerard Butler is back into the game, like in his prime day of 300 - I'm sold. And despite the fact that there are plenty of explosive Michael Bay-screaming scenes, possibly this one has a better story line. I will not discount this movie yet, so there you go. For the time been, I am okay with something like Vantage Point, not with Red Dawn. It is also left to be seen how this will fair against Roland Emmerich's White House Down.

From the newcomers duo of Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger’s script, the plot synopsis is as such:
"When the White House (Secret Service Code: “Olympus”) is captured by a terrorist mastermind and the President is kidnapped, disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped within the building. As our national security team scrambles to respond, they are forced to rely on Banning’s inside knowledge to help retake the White House, save the President, and avert an even bigger disaster."

Olympus Has Fallen opens in theaters on March 22nd, 2013 through Rainfilm Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
