The long wait has ended. New Line Cinemas teases the new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug for which you can view in the embedded video after the jump. Of course, The Desolation of Smaug is Peter Jackson’s second entry in The Hobbit trilogy and is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’ predecessor novel to The Lord of the Rings.
The Czech version:
Following the harrowing escape from the hands of Azog the Defiler, Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and the gang which includes the wise Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen), the Dwarf warrior Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and their dwarven companions will continue their journey to reclaim Erebor as dragon Smaug awaits them.
What I can say is the trailer is exciting, perhaps even more than the first one. Besides the familiar faces, the Elves will play more significantly in the sequel. We will wait for different version soon.
Yesterday, a new teaser poster also debuted - in a style reminiscenes to Freeman's co-star in Sherlock backward facing a giant landscape in Star Trek 2's poster. What I can say is that this is a cool poster nevertheless.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will arrive in cinemas this December 16. Peter Jackson directs.
