CHARITY SCREENINGS RAISED OVER RM126,000

As part of its annual CSR initiatives for the year, Malaysia's leading cinema operator - Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) collaborated with HOPE worldwide Malaysia to raise over RM 126, 000 to fund community projects to improve the lifestyle of needy families through quality healthcare and education aid. The donation drive which ran from July 25 to August 23, 2013 at the selected 15 GSC cinemas nationwide saw GSC Group contributing a special screening of “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” with a total of 10,000 tickets worth over RM131,000 as a reward for donors who contributed minimum RM15.00 to the beneficiary.

This project was supported by more than 100 GSC’s business partners, associates as well as the general public and some even took the opportunity to bring the residents of charity homes to watch the movie with the tickets given.

“The result of donation drive totally surpassed our humble expectations – thanks to GSC business partners, associates and the general public as HOPE worldwide Malaysia now has an additional RM126, 350 in the kitty to do more GOOD Work – like benefit over 2,000 children with free tuitions or more than 4,000 children will now get to enjoy free healthcare”, shared Ms Koh Mei Lee (GSC Chief Executive Officer) in the event today.

Also present was Ms Samantha Sim, Chairman of HOPE worldwide Malaysia who presented Ms Koh Mei Lee & Mr Tung Yow Kong, General Manager of GSC Movies Sdn Bhd with mementos as the token of appreciation for GSC’s contribution in the donation drive. “On behalf of HOPE worldwide, I wish to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Golden Screen Cinemas for the opportunity to collaborate in this CSR event as well as to the respective donors. Your support and commitment has helped raised a total of RM 126,000! Thank you to all for your contribution” said Ms Katy Lee (HOPE worldwide Malaysia Executive Director) in her speech.

Held at GSC Signature, this event was also to thank donors for their sincere contribution. Also presented were donors from Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Affin Investment Bank Berhad, Basecamp VFX Sdn Bhd, Panasonic, Artline Trading Co, F&N, E-Builder Technologies Sdn Bhd, The Clean Connection as well as Golden Duck International (M) Sdn Bhd.
