PASSENGERS TRAILER #1

Sony Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer to its upcoming Holiday presentation entitled "Passengers". Directed by Academy Award nominated director Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) and written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus), the space thriller is about a spaceship, Starship Avalon, on its 120-year voyage to a distant colony planet known as "Homestead II" and transporting 5,259 people has a malfunction in two of its sleep chambers. As a result, two hibernation pods open prematurely and the two people that awoke (Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt) are stranded on the spaceship, still 90 years from their destination.

Of course, the trailer sterns some interesting premises. It started like a typical romance story about two isolated individuals in a lonely world, but quickly evolves into something darker and sinister. There comes the science fiction portion with plenty of elements on space travels been crammed inside, before, finally a conspiracy theory about why they woke up too soon. But being directed by Tyldum, who has done great job helming "The Imitation Game", as well as a promising script from an upcoming, rising writer, we only hope this, even as if it looks dodgy, to be actually good.

"Passengers"arrives this December 21 in the United States and tentatively on 29 December in Malaysia. "Passengers" stars Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Sheen, Andy Garcia and Laurence Fishburne.
