Overcrowding in the U.S. penal system has reached a breaking point and prisons have been turned over to monolithic Weyland Corporation, which sees prisoners as an opportunity for a televised sport called "Death Race", the world's biggest and most brutal sporting event. Five-time NASCAR champion Jensen Ames is a man who has become an expert at survival. When Weyland demands a driver to headline the big game, Ames is forced to submit. Donning the costume of mythical rider Frankenstein, the racer becomes an instant crowd favorite. Hidden by a metallic black mask, one convict will be put through a brutal three day challenge, with the trophy being the ultimate prize: freedom. Ames' expertise will now be put to the test. It's either to kill or be killed.

    Our Verdict:

    Green Tea says:
Statham's fans...be rejoice. Let's forget about In The Name Of The King and let's remember him in The Bank Job and this one as well, perhaps!! This movie is not that bad I say as compared to the latter. It's not a movie about The Transporter yet (Transporter 3 is coming soon) but it is another piece of actioner you will want to try to sit for about 110 minutes enjoying what ever Statham can do with his muscles. A brilliant direction from Paul W.S. Anderson after gaining much famed from the Resident Evil and AVP, but the brutality of this movie is my concern here. 18SG tag is not friendly at all and thanks to the censorship, it made it to the cinema. An exciting story about car race hampered by a very bad choices of tactical race - shoot your rivals to death and crahed them!! The storyline was so-so but it makes sense, sort of predictable as well. Paul did many magics on the first film of each of the franchise he brought in, only it been turned bad after the sequels were passed to the other directors. Statham is a muscular attraction, added in Tyrese Gibson and the hot Natalie Martinez, you got a good ride on your race car. So, go enjoy it, at least!! It's a not bad movie to kill your time!!
