After the dismay box-office result of although much better reviewed "Prince Caspian", Walt Disney Studios announced that they will no longer co-producing the adaptation of C S Lewis' "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" which supposed to be the third installment for the Narnia stories. Cited "budgetary and logistical" reason for the decision, the price tag of US$ 200 million to make Prince Caspian may prove to be too much for the third film due to logistical difficulties given its sea-borne nature of the story.
Also, in recent years many non-Potter kids fantasy films like The Golden Compass and Eragon bombed on the box-office, struggling at state-side to cover their production cost. Prince Caspian made US$ 420 million worldwide, a distinct cry from its predecessor The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe which went on to gross US$ 745million. So, the creative Walden Media is left alone to find another studio to embark with. No more Narnia, perhaps?
