Green Tea says:
WARNING SPOILER! Jason initiated as one of the long run series for a massive psycho killer that dated back since the 80's. Turning into a new millennium, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes did some remake for the franchise and now holding it upright with a possible sequel. However, I think this Jason makes no different from the original.
The story takes place in Crystal Lake Camp, where like the original, is where the murders took place. This time, two groups of people visited that place and somehow needless to say they were all man-slaughtered by the killer with bad face himself. In total, title likewise, 13 had became his victims in this supposed to be first of many to come. I hope not!!
The story is strong by itself and this is a remake of an original that does not even care about polishing the story or making people who never appreciated this franchise before to appreciate it more. If you are a fans or you watched Jason's previous series before, you may get excited because of its newer setting but you may not get the better experience. The story is basically only about killing and slaughter with various sharp instruments from arrow, knife, some parang and hook. There aren't much bloody more to offer because again, it is just a remake.
The basic story is too simple that it does not distinguished itself from the original. Talking about pretty much the same like previous, you may only enjoy this movie if you love killing and blood. Somehow, the origin of Jason is not well explained here, with only the opening scene which briefly tells you how he transformed into a monster.
With Derek Mears behind the mask, it's hard to determine how much he resembles the original one. With that, I congratulate him for giving such a bloody good performance. Jared Padalecki from the series Supernatural is a so-so although out of all, I know him more than the rest. Perhaps I was not impressed by their acting wise. It just an another slasher movie that we tends now to get sick because of their aweful performance. Still, this Jason and this Korean dude shine the most out of them all of his comedic and witty. Aaron Yung, are you on booze while acting on this movie?
I wonder where Michael Bay can dig so much money to make such a horror movie. The Unborn failed, and now although this is better than the Jewish exorcism, I cannot understand why he did not exercise his power to polish it and make it much better to meet the fans' expectation? are all horror slasher will end up been a sucker in story whole blood keeps oozing out?
