NEWS: AVATAR THE FIVE TIME KING

The Golden Globe weekend is nothing more interesting when the winner at the Golden Globe Awards is also the winner at the US Box Office for yet another week. Avatar, James Cameron phenomenal film stroked two awards from last night's Golden Globe Awards - Best Motion Picture (Drama) and Best Director. So coincident that the film also won the race for the top on the US Box Office for the fifth time.

Down merely 18% from last weekend, Avatar has now scored another $41.3 million over the weekend, easily beating debutant The Book Of Eli's $31.6 million. Avatar's legging performance is totally phenomenon as the sci-fi flick has been experiencing low drop since its debut back on mid-December.

Peter Jackson's not-so-well-received The Lovely Bones expanded nationwide in US to take in a sum of $17.1 million. The film garnered only 37% on the movie critic's circle of Rotten Tomatoes.

The other debutant, The Spy Next Door which has Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan on it only managed to muscle over $9.7 million. Not a perfect start for the movie right?
