American Pie started off as a raunchy teenager comedy by Universal Pictures back in 1999, launching another two sequels; American Pie 2 in 2001 and American Wedding in 2003. Later the attention for more American Pie series took a direct-to-DVD spin off in three other titles.
But Universal thinks that this franchise is worth for another reheating treatment for a new cinematic release. The LA Times reported that the studio is now developing a new American Pie 4 (that is what the working title is at). This is also rifling up speculation whether the original casts would return or not.
Among the original stars: Jason Bigg is doing quite a low-profile movies. Seann William Scott The Stiffmeister has made himself big and will be seen in Cop Out with Bruce Willis. Alyson Hannigan is now a major star in TV series How I Met Your Mother.
Universal has declined to comment but words have that Harold And Kumar writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are talking to the studio about the new film. We will see more of this in the future so let's hope for the best.
