Zack Snyder’s upcoming Sucker Punch is due to be released in the cinemas on March 25 next year. The action fantasy film is also been confirmed for 2D, 3D and Imax 3D presentations, with an ensemble female cast that includes Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone.
With the Imax 3D, this will continue Snyder’s assault on the format – first with 2007’s 300 and 2009’s Watchmen. Later this year, he will introduce the owl animation Legend of the Guardians in the similar formats.
While Sucker Punch may means something like punching-blow and could definitely a blow too to watch on 3D, the premise of the story is somehow awkwardly weird. Sucker Punch concentrates on the multi-layered story of Baby Doll (Emily Browning) and her four fellow inmates in the 1960s asylum where she has been unjustly incarcerated.
