MERYL STREEP PREP FOR MARGARET TRATCHER

Empire Online reports that Meryl Streep will play Margaret Tratcher, the controversial British female prime minister between 1979 to 1990 in the biopic based on her. Mama Mia! director Phyllida Lloyd and the multiple Academy Awards for actress category are preparing the project for Pathe and the BBC. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the title for the biopic is currently called Tratcher. Jim Broadbent is in talks to play Tratcher's husband, Denis.

There is no official plot yet, but as far as it is, the biopic would centre around Tratcher's attempt to save her career following unpopular decision under her policies. It will also depicts the 17 days preceding the 1982 Falklands War. The 74 day war famously reversed her popular rating by double and allowed her to sail through victory during the 1983 general election.

Damien Jones (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) will produce the biopic while Brian Fillis (An Englishman in New York) has written the screenplay ready to make. If the deals are on, this will be some of Streep's most prolific role she will ever take, and most probably an Oscar win?
