MARVEL CONFIRMS SEQUELS FOR THOR AND CAPTAIN AMERICA

Marvel StudiosImage via WikipediaInteresting! Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that sequels to the yet unreleased Thor and Captain America: First Avenger will be developed. This despite the fact that both films have not been released to the general audience, thus we are not even sure if the movies are good or bad, or simply making enough money so convincing yet. While there is no greenlight yet, Feige hinted IGN about the future of the Marvel Universe.

About Thor, which will be making its way next week in Malaysia (and early May in the United States), Feige hinted that the "Thor will go off into a new adventure" after The Avenger (2012) movie. Similarly, "Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own." Captain America: First Avengers will be arriving in cinemas in July. With the intriguing hints, we know that Marvel Studios, unsurprisingly, have plans to develop more movies about the characters itself."

Feige also mentioned about the other possibilities for the numerous Marvel characters including the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. He said, "We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film — Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the spy organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. — all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films. And, we've got a lot of other characters we're prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined."

It is indeed an interesting statement considering Marvel Studios will not only focusing on the well known characters within the Avengers series, but also even looking for potential in other relatively unknown characters like Dr Strange. Previously, we already have plenty of rumors regarding other characters long considered for a stand alone movie like Ant Man, Hawkeye and Black Widow. Nathan Fillon at one point was considered for the role Ant Man. Jeremy Renner whom has been given the task of Hawkeye in next year's The Avengers, stand alone S.H.I.E.L.D movie and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow (appearing in Iron Man 2) were one of those deemed positive for a stand alone project. Although those are only rumors at this state, this reflects the commitment Marvel Studios is ready to give in. Whether you like it or not, projects seem to be piling up at the studio's decision desk. As for now, we shall focus on the The Avenger series since it will be released next year!
