Avid Japanese movie fans, get ready! I promise that there will not be any Japanese horror films in here! The Japanese Film Festival is coming back again this month for its 9th year in Malaysia. The festival will be held from 13 to 18 September in Klang Valley (GSC Mid Valley, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC 1 Utama) and from 20 to 23 September in Penang at GSC Gurney Plaza. Organized by The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, co-organized by
Golden Screen Cinemas, and sponsored by Mitsubishi Corporation; the festival will be featuring 12 latest and hottest Japanese films.
The film festival will see the opening of "Key of Life", a suspense comedy which won Best Screenplay Award at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival, ahead of its commercial release in Japan. This year's ten Japanese Academy Prize winner "Rebirth" is one of the main highlights too. Other highlights include internationally acclaimed director KORE-EDA Hirokazu's children drama "I Wish", entertaining documentrary "Death of a Japanese Salesman", live-action adaptation of TV animation "Ninja Kids!!!"
