What if I tell you that you can actually do something for the society while watching movie at the same time? Yes, you can. This year, Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) is collaborating with HOPE worldwide Malaysia on a donation drive (2013) to fund community projects for the less fortunate.
HOPE worldwide Malaysia, which is registered with the Registry of Societies and Inland Revenue (LHDN 01/35/42/51/179-6.5193) is part of an international, non-profit, non-religious organization established to improve lifestyle of needy families though quality healthcare and education aid with the support of their network of volunteers, corporate companies, local authorities and selfless individuals. It was established since 1996 and its mission is to make changes by harnessing the compassion and commitment of dedicated staff and volunteers to deliver a sustainable, high impact, community-based services to the poor and needy.
Executive Executive Director HOPE worldwide Malaysia, Ms Katy Lee expressed hope that the results from the donation drive will enable the organization to sustain the Free Clinic of Hope in Sentul and to help about 100 registered needy families with monthly groceries. Besides that, HOPE worldwide Malaysia also runs football training programmer for children and several outstation programmers in Penang, Ipoh, Seremban, Johor, Kuantan, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
Mr Irving Chee, GSC General Manager added that this CSR project is a great avenue for GSC, as a corporate company to engage the partners, staff and the general public to contribute to a good cause by helping the underserved community, especially in the urban areas. He also announced that with every RM15 donated, GSC will offer a complimentary ticket to a special screening of blockbuster movie – “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” on August 24, 2013, 10.30am show in selected 15 GSC cinemas nationwide.
Based on the worldwide best-selling book series by Cassandra Clare – “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones”, directed by Harald Zwart sets in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. The movie stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey, Kevin Durand, Aidan Turner, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao with CCH Pounder, with Jared Harris and Jonathan Rhys Meyers
