The production for Martin Campbell's (Golden Eye, Casino Royale) upcoming DC Comic's Green Lantern has received the green light. Few days ago, several news and words from Warner Bros have affirmed that the female lead has been cast - TV series Gossip Girl star Blake Lively will be the Lantern's love interest.
Blake Lively is of course plays the role of Serena in Gossip Girl and has found her way to the big screen adaptation opposite to Ryan Reynold. She is also set to star in Ben Affleck's latest movie, The Town.
Lantern's love interest in the comic book, Carol Ferris is the woman in charge of her father's aerospace company, and who hires cocky test pilot Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), the man fated to become intergalactic law keeper Green Lantern.
Aimed for a June 2011 release, the movie still lacks someone to play the main villain, Sinestro.
