Carrie Underwood may set to embark a journey for a film career when Variety reported that the country singer is making film debut as a church youth-group leader in the planned project Soul Surfers. Of course, it sounds spritiual of course.

Soul Surfers,
based on a true story tells about the life of a 13 year-old surfer who got her arm munched on by a shark and still recovered to win surf competitions. Bethany Hamilton, despite losing the limb and 60% of her blood that morning, she returned to surfing only three weeks later and now continues to surf competitively around the world.

Bridge To Terabithia's AnnaSophia Robb will play the role of Hamilton while Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt will play the teenager's parents.

Shooting starts this week in Hawaii, with
Sean McNamara directing, and a script by McNamara, Deborah Schwartz, Douglas Schwartz and Michael Berk, aiming for a 2011 release.
