First of all, I don't understand why this is a remake. The Karate Kid was such a cult back in the 80's - directed by John G Avildsen and starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. it is a martial arts film that follows an underdog who goes all the way to become a karate champ.
Flash forward to 2010, a remake was made under Sony Pictures and again, it's a remake that I will never understand. First, it's a kung fu film - not karate. Secondly, it took place in China and not some neighbourhood in the United States or in Japan.
Nevertheless, it is still intriguing to see what the movie can pull out. Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith (Will Smith's beloved son) star in this remake of The Karate Kid, scheduled for June 11 release.
I still prefer they called this movie something else, like The Kung Fu Kid or The Not-So-Karate Kid.
