Scorsese at the Tribeca Film Festival, 2007Image via Wikipedia

Reports from Berlin Film Festival has suggested that Martin Scorsese may be teaming up with Lars von Trier to remake Taxi Driver. Those unconfirmed yet report from Hollywood was picked up at Empire Online, JoBlo, and others sources that you can named it.

It all started out with this quote by Scorsese:
Bob De Niro (and I) are talking about something that has to do with that world…There’s no doubt about that. We’re working on something like that, but it’s from the vantage point of older men looking back, none of this running around stuff.

It looks like Scorsese and Robert De Niro will be working together again since 1995's Casino. In the most upperhand chances, Scorsese will be going back to the world of mob indefinitely with once he was interested in adapting I Heard You Paint Houses with De Niro in it. It was an adaptation of Charles Brandt’s true crime book and scripted for the screen by Steve Zaillian (American Gangster, Gangs of New York) about Frank ‘the Irishman’ Sheeran – a former labor union official who was accused of having links to organized crime and being a hitman responsible for 25 murders .

But the other piece rumour that I was initially talking about is that instead of I Heard You Paint Houses, new piece of news as claimed by Danish film magazine Ekko is that Scorsese and von Trier (Anti-Christ), is that the pair will be working on to remake Taxi Driver. To add up the spice, De Niro will once again playing the lead role.

At the age of 66, De Niro is still okay for the role in Taxi Driver. All these years, both have been rifle up interests in making another Taxi Driver movie and now it looks like it is coming on. So, the question here is, would it be a true remake, semi-sequel or something else if the Ekko is bullshitting about this news?

NEW Another side story, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will team up again in a biopic, The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt with DiCaprio plays the US president.

Any ideas? More to come I expect.
