The wildfire about the possibility that the Fox's television series 24 may get cancelled have been running around for the past month. It is now however confirmed that the Jack Bauer's action-flick accordance to time frame and split screens will see the end of its tunnel at season eight. The current season eight has eight episodes left and most probably the writing team will give it all up with a bang for the running towards the season finale in May.

The twitter by series director/producer Jon Cassar says it all:
News from the 24 set,the crew has been told that 24 has come to an end. There will b no season 9. Its been a great run, thanx all 4 watching

Fox stated that the series finale decision was a joint one made by 24 star/exec-producer Kiefer Sutherland, showrunner Howard Gordon, Twentieth Century Fox Television, Imagine Entertainment and Fox Broadcasting.

Some side scenes have that Fox seems disinterested in continuing the production and NBC has approached Fox to pick up the series but all those seems not coming in. With 24 TV series been cancelled, the next question will be, would there be 24 in a big screen?

Screenrant also run an interview of THR with producer Howard Gordon regarding the cancellation. In one line he said:
Obviously the script’s still being written. It could be as early as next year depending on how things come together.

So the truth is still out there...
