This week Avatar will be landing on DVD sales, practically today to coincide with the Earth Day. LA Times spoke with director James Cameron about the possibility in the sequel.
Cameron has a lot of idea when he wrote Avatar more than a decade ago. No doubt about that. In the first film, you will find yourself amazed with all the glory blue-creatures in Pandora, the floating mountains of Hallelujah and the unobtanium ores.
Well said, it is very clear to me that Avatar 2 will take the audience to discover the richness of the Pandora's ocean. Although some rumours may have pointed out the possibility of the sequel to set in one of the other moons in Alpha Centauri AB system. Not quite but it is still interesting to see if Na'vi requires any 'oxygen tank' when venturing the seas.
It looks like Avatar 2 could be as close as it is to start its production. I am not sure how soon we can catch the sequel but I guess as usual, my advise will beJUST WAIT!! nevertheless, you can relinquish your thirst for once more if you want to catch Avatar again. If I am not mistaken, there is still one session of 3D in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Yeah, it is still in cinema for your information. The audience in the United States will have a chance to watch the re-release this August.
We created a broad canvas for the environment of film. That’s not just on Pandora, but throughout the Alpha Centauri AB system. And we expand out across that system and incorporate more into the story – not necessarily in the second film, but more toward a third film.

Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment – a different setting within Pandora. And I’m going to be focusing on the ocean, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rainforest. I’m not saying we won’t see what we’ve already seen; we’ll see more of that as well

The challenge on the next Avatar is to do what we did before at half the price and in half the time. Again, that’s an impossible goal, we won’t accomplish that, but if we can reduce by 25% in both categories, we’ll have really accomplished something.
