While Tron Legacy is still 8 months away from its release, but the 3D phenomenon has been given a sequel treat. Tron 3 will have Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz doing the script for the planned sequel. Apparently, Walt Disney has engaged them to write and to come out with drafts to continue Tron Legacy although no official greenlight has been issued yet.
Is this a big gamble for Walt Disney? Yes, been bold and confidence for the success of Tron Legacy, the move to secure the two writers will be a huge boost if Tron Legacy is proved to be really good. While it all depends on whether Legacy would be a hit or not, Walt Disney has also planned for Joseph Kosinski to fast track the sequel too and retaining their options for Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde if everything goes according to plan.
Early start and a huge success for Tron Legacy means we may be able to see Tron 3 for a 2012 or 2013 release. After all, its a huge gamble!!
