The news only comes after months of rumors. Finally Marvel has confirmed that Hugo Weaving will play the role of Johann Schmidt or Red Skull in the upcoming Joe Johnston’s The First Avenger: Captain America.
In the movie, Red Skull will be a Nazi officer personally groomed by Hitler himself to cause terror and intimidation across Europe, whom will face Steve Rogers in the end. Weaving’s entry is pretty much anticipated albeit it has been rumored for months. I personally think that the role is pretty much locked down since February – perhaps there are some details on agreement need to be settled before hand.
Weaving will join the casting of Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell and Sebastian Stan in the next Marvel project that will eventually lead up to the phenomenon Avenger series. Expect the shooting to kick start next month. The Captain America will find his way to the cinema next year.
