COWBOYS AND ALIENS TRAILER DEBUTS

Exactly at 2 AM this morning (Malaysian time), Paramount Pictures rolled out the first trailer of the one of the most anticipated movie of 2011 - Cowboys and Aliens. Directed by Jon Favreau with castings that include the awesome names like Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell, Cowboys and Aliens crosses the classic Western with the alien-invasion movie in a blazingly original way. Watch the trailer below:

Plot Synopsis is as follows:
1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.
But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.
Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Now let's look at the trailer analysis. This movie is considered a genre-bending where elements of Western and sci-fi were blend into one. The first part it seems typical like any Western film; an outlander or stranger running into the land of Law and Order, been accused of some crime that he don't remember. That is until the moment when the strange beeper on his wrist start to function. SPOILER - "It seems like the beeper is used to detect the presence of aliens."

Then, the aliens arrived, start to suck people up in the most feared first encounter. Although that looks like a cliche, but the trailer depicts it in the most gruesome way. Then, the second part of trailer is all about explosion, gun slinging and fire.

The overall nature of the trailer seems pretty dark. Hell yea, the last thing I want is something like Wild Wild West which makes a lot of fools of themselves. It certainly worth the money and the trailer is much better than Green Lantern. As an adaptation from a comic, I bet not many would ever love that comic, but after seeing this, I am sure that many will devoutly switch camp.

Cowboys and Aliens is already the next summer's phenomenon with names like Ron Howard, Brian Glazer (as producers) and Steven Spielberg (as executive producer). The movie which will set for release on July 29 next year.
