The American Film Institute (AFI) announced its list of Top 10 movies for the year of 2010. The AFI awards are chosen by a group of professionals in within the film industry and ranged from professions like critics, writers, producers and scholars. The AFI released their annual best movies in which The Hangover (2009), The Hurt Locker (2009), The Dark Knight (2008), Iron Man (2008), Wall-E (2008) and Juno (2007) were among the best in their respective years.

Since AFI recognizes only American production on their Top 10 list, they also awarded another two movies with special awards. The King's Speech which was on the Oscar race was ineligible because it is a British production. Waiting For Superman was also awarded since it is a documentary.
The top 10 list was chosen by a panel, consisting of 13 jury members. The movie list was judged by among others director Lee Daniels, writer Diablo Cody and critics Leonard Maltin, Claudia Puig and Lisa Schwarzbaum. Head on AFI's website for more details.
