Here are the brief synopsis about the movie:
Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise. When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
The trailer gave you a feel that reminiscent the first film, The Curse of the Black Pearl, rather than the overly bloated, confusing and unorthodox sequels that forms nothing. I am glad, as I have always said, the story premise is a standalone, distinguished from others. The fact that they go all the way to chunk out new references is what we all need. Besides, we now have mermaids, zombies and Blackbeard.

The fourth movie draws inspiration from the novel On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers, which is the same novel that inspired the LucasArts game, The Secret of Monkey Island. The plot features Captain Jack Sparrow, again played by Johnny Depp, searching for the Fountain of Youth and confronting the pirate Blackbeard. This is by far a more intriguing step rather than packing and elaborating materials over two long films.

Recently they were speculations that another two sequels have been ordered and possibly shoot back-to-back again just like the two previous sequels. I do not hope that they will make a sequel that directly continues from the predecessor, expanding the mythology. It wasn't a bad idea, but the fact that the second and third film were done in rush, thus deeming the inferior in quality. It would be very heavy and too buoyed by the need to understand the whole mythological concept like the previous two sequels.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is arriving this May 20 in United States and May 19 in Malaysia. It will be featured in normal and Disney Digital 3D presentation. The movie is directed by Rob Marshall and stars Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz, Ian McShane, and Geoffrey Rush.
