COTILLARD AND GORDON-LEVITT OFFICIALLY JOIN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

We knew that roughly weeks ago that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to play some role in the upcoming Christopher Nolan's final chapter of the Batman saga, The Dark Knight Rises. Back then, we speculated that Albert Falcone, the son of mob boss that became the main antagonist in the first movie, could be one role Gordon-Levitt might be playing. However, that piece of speculation was quickly shot down. Then, it was also rumored that Marion Cotillard might have a role too, playing Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Raz al Ghul from Batman Begins. Well, all I can say is that both actors are officially joining in the mega-production but they are not taking on the roles previously rumored. Despite the fans speculating over the two important and established characters in the Internet, Nolan took a different direction and chose to give them original roles instead.

Nolan had nothing but nothing but positive words for the two who he clearly wanted to work with again after Inception. He went on commented:
When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.

Now here comes the fun part of breaking the details. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (JGL) has been casted as John Blake, a cop working for Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman), working on a special assignment for Gordon. Marion Cotillard will be playing Miranda Tate, a member on the board for Wayne Enterprise and it is believed her role will be aiding Wayne (Christian Bale) in sorting and continuing his father's "philanthropic endeavors for Gotham."

Despite the announcement, some are still speculating that this might be a cover up for other bigger roles. For that, it could not be a no-brainer at all. Speculations still firing up whether "John Blake" could be an infiltration from the mob gang seeking for revenge or merely "Miranda Tate" could be also an infiltrator - particularly since everyone has been thinking that she might be playing as Talia. It is still possible but while the movie is preparing to start shooting next month in Pittsburgh, all these can only be another endless possibilities. Why not wait for a few months and see if we ever get a trailer. So be it?

Another rumor circulating across the net is the fact that Worst Previews insisted that Dr Hugo Strange may still be part of 'The Dark Knight Rises' storyline. An unconfirmed story so far is that "As Batman deals with his new status as a wanted vigilante, Dr. Hugo Strange, a villainous psychiatrist, concocts a plan to destroy him and become the new Batman."

Also making their rounds are returning cast; Nestor Carbonell who is in negotiation to reprise his role as Gotham's Mayor. Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman are also being eyed for supporting roles.

The Warner Bros production will conclude Nolan's Batman saga. Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Christopher Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. The Dark Knight Rises is slated for release on July 20, 2012 worldwide.
