JADEN SMITH AND WILL SMITH SET FOR NEW SCI-FI BY M NIGHT SHYAMALAN

The name M. Night Shyamalan is truly a poison in the Hollywood. Anything that he touched over the years following his breakout hits like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs were all withered either on box office performance or even the critical reception. His last directorial act on The Last Airbender was a shame one, while his last involved project called Devil did some to restore his name. Otherwise, who could believe he is still the most-sought after man in Hollywood when it comes into sci-fi.

Probably! Latino Review reports that Will Smith has put on some faith on the used to be an awesome filmmaker by set to star in an untitled sci-fi adventure along with his son, Jaden Smith. The Sony Pictures' production could be a fresh wind of air for the director who has tried it at most of the studios but it was during his tenure time with Touchstone Pictures that saw some of his amazing works. Anyway, Shyamalan and Will Smith will produce with James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith and Ken Stovitz, Smith’s partners at Overbrook Entertainment. The screenplay is by M. Night Shyamalan and Gary Whitta.

The untitled film will look upon 1,000 years from now where a young boy navigates an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes. Although it remains untitled at the moment, MTV did dug up this story two months ago, where a possibility of Night working with the Smith's family in a movie called "One Thousand A.E."

President of Columbia Pictures, Doug Belgrad made the announcement and said, "Night is an outstanding filmmaker who has a tremendous vision for this science-fiction adventure story and we couldn't be more excited to be working again with Jaden after our experiences on The Pursuit of Happyness and The Karate Kid. We’re thrilled to have the two of them together on this project."

So what do you think folks? Can Shyamalan resurrect from a series of dud with this one?
