If you are not familiar with the volcanic disaster that hit the city of Pompeii in the 79 A.D.

Fresh from wrapping up the production of The Three Musketeers, Paul W.S. Anderson's interest on the historical period drama seems imminent as he continued the genre with signing on to helm "Pompeii", a historical true event when the city was almost ripped apart and torn down by the destructive eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Constantin Film is financing and producing the big-budget film with Summit Entertainment is up for distribution duty.

Anderson plans to shoot in spring 2012, but how will that effect his works on the upcoming semi-reboot Resident Evil 5? The Hollywood Reporter described the project as "Like Titanic, another high-profile historical disaster movie, Pompeii film will be anchored by a strong love story." There are no cast been made yet, but my instinct has that his wife, long time partner actress Milla Jovovich might be starring. well, that is just a hunch.

"Pompeii" sets in the late summer of 79 A.D. revolving around the slave of a shipping tycoon who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master's daughter. What the slave doesn't know is that she's already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, while he's been sold to another owner. Just when things can't get any worse, Mt. Vesuvius erupts with the power of 40 nuclear bombs. But the slave is trapped on a ship headed for Naples, separated from his love and best friend, a gladiator who is trapped in the city's coliseum. As fire and ash destroy the only world he's ever known, the slave is determined to get back and rescue them.

With "Pompeii" is on the move, what will be Paul W.S. Anderson's role in the fifth Resident Evil movie? Will he passed the directing chair to somebody else?
