UPDATES ON ELYSIUM: ALICE BRAGA AND RELEASE DATE CHANGES

In this quiet weekend, I shall update you with some news regarding Elysium. Those who have watched 2009's District 9 must have enjoyed the concept and the characters. Well, in case you did not know, the writer/director of that Best Picture nominee is back with a new project. The project that I am talking about is not the sequel of that movie, but rather a new sci-fi film entitled Elysium. The movie sets in the far future on another planet and is filled with many sociopolitical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film.

Coming Soon reported that Alice Braga, whom we have seen her films like The Rite and Predators, has been cast in the Neill Blomkamp's sociopolitical satire for an unknown role. Recently, Wagner Moura was also casted for another unknown role, joining the list of already star-studded castings that include Matt Damon (The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone), Jodie Foster (The Beaver), Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team) and William Ficthner (Drve Angry 3D, Prison Break).

Meanwhile, the production and distribution studio, Sony Pictures has announced a minor shift on the release date. Previously slated for March 8, 2013 release, Elysium will now open on March 1 instead. This was done to avoid direct competition with Walt Disney's Sam Raimi's "Oz, the Great and Powerful".
