    Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have set the release date for the sequel of Thor. Thor 2, as it is now known as will be slated for July 26, 2013 release and is currently the only movie to occupy that date on its own.

    The announcement from Walt Disney and Coming Soon also mentioned that Chris Hemsworth will be reprising the titular role. No other official castings are yet to be finalized at the moment, although it will not be a surprise if some of the cast from the first movie may be returning for the next adventure.     However, the director of the first movie Kenneth Branagh will not be returning to direct this sequel. There is no mention yet who will take over the duty from him, hence begins a new round of speculations on who to continue Branagh's job. Meanwhile, Branagh will produce the sequel instead.

    The sequel will now join Iron Man 3 for the 2013 summer schedule. The threequel starring Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black will be directing the movie after Jon Favreau passed on for another Walt Disney's ambitious projects. Iron Man 3 opens on May 3, 2013.
