CASTING NEWS: STEP UP 4, GOTTI AND MAN OF STEEL


In today's round up of casting news, Green Tea Movie brings you three casting news from Summit Entertainment’s upcoming Step Up 4, the real-life gangster adaptation of Gotti and the latest on Superman’s reboot Man of Steel. Read on the details after the break.

Here are some updates from the popular dancing franchise; Step Up 4, which has apparently dropped “4ever” from the title. Professional model Ryan Guzman will be making his acting debut with the sequel, by joining Kathryn McCormick on the lead roles. No further detail in regard to its plot has been known yet but we do know that the shooting will happen this year in 3D under the direction of Scott Speer.


On another front, while the production of Barry Levinson’s Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father has experienced some hiccups in recent months (particularly with the news of Joe Pesci is pursuing legal action against the producers for the role snubs), Ben Foster was announced to have joined the cast of the movie, playing John Gotti Jr. The film which adapts John Gotti’s life over the last two decades of the 20th century including his incarceration and subsequent death in 2002 also has John Travolta, Al Pacino, Lindsay Lohan and Kelly Preston in the starring bill. Production will commence shortly. Levinson directs and plans for release in 2013.


For the last casting updates, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel has found a boss for Clark kent. Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast, playing the role of Perry White. Perry White, according to the comic book is the Editor-in-Chief of Kent’s The Daily Planet. He first appeared in the 1940’s comic series and has gained strong reputation for his high journalism integrity. In 2006’s Superman Returns, White was played by the academy Awards nominee Frank Langella while Michael McKean guest star on the television adaptation Smallville. Production is ongoing and Man of Steel is set for release on June 14, 2013.
