There's been some delay issue bugging on this post but it all sorted out now. If you have been living in some Timbuktu for ages, we are now in the brand new year of 2012, a year where exciting stuffs like The Dark Knight Rises, The Avenger and even something like Upside Down will be happening. Not I am going to discredit the year 2011, which has given us plenty share of good movies; but the releases last year seems to be a little underwhelmed from the previous year. Nevertheless, 2011 was still a memorable year given the fact that some of the offerings have indeed surprised us. The proofs are the Top 10 movies of the year that are all based on our Green-Tea-O-Meter:
*NOTE: (1) The list is highly-based on Green Tea Movie's opinion and does not reflect external or general consensus. (2) The list covers movies watched from 31 December 2010 till 30 December 2011 only.
PARAMOUNT PICTURES. - Action/Adventure
NOTE: The plot revolves a strata transition of how a god embodies the humanity in a stroke of event that change his heart. Aside that, it casts a strange feel good entertainment with fast-paced philosophically action that surprisingly blends well. Here, "Thor" emerges as the winner in its class. SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT - Action/Science Fiction
NOTE: Source Code is a rare breed of sci-fi that inoculates a viable story that establishes itself more of less a crossing between 'Groundhog Day' and 'Deja vu', Directed by Duncan Jones, the son of David Bowie; is a smart sci-fi thriller that makes every eight minutes of the time counts into solidly intriguing and feels fresh premise. It probes not only as a mind-bender that challenges the logic and reason but also constantly reminding us about the desire of real humanity and psychology of love.

PARAMOUNT PICTURES - Drama/Western
NOTE: Always feeling lethargic when watching some cowboys riding horses and shooting each other with a sling gun? No worry, "True Grit" is spectacularly different - it is magnificently and gloriously crafted by the talented director duo - the Coen Brothers who choose to adapt the movie as faithful to the book as possible, leaving it untouched, pure gold and a worthy film to watch. Then, there is some strong performances from Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld to top the notch up.

WALT DISNEY PICTURES - Comedy/Family
NOTE: For the 100 minutes, the glimpse of yesteryears landed over the reality with ‘The Muppets’ is fueled with lovable characters, heartfelt simple story, amazing soundtracks and charming good-ol-fun! Jim Henson's celebrated creations could place themselves all high on the throne and we hope for a sequel to continue this magnificent experience.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARNER BROS. - Action/Comedy
NOTE: No reviews published due to hectic September to December period! Largely think it is not as good as the first one and too repetitive; but the fact that this second one continues directly from the story of the first installment, the repetition in mannerism, sarcasm and slow-mo fueled actions are justified. It plays around these same formula as it plays around the bro-mantic comedy and the new rivalry of stroke genius into the scene; only with more outta-control and more absurdity to fuse the plot. For a wild card, Holmes is a fantastic movie for me!

PARAMOUNT PICTURES. - Action/Adventure
NOTE: The better movie than the other installments present is enough to make this Brad Bird first live action and J.J. Abrams-infused fast action and competent plot line a winnable movie of the year. M:I 4 interrogates smart, fast and high octane action sequences; besides taking the series of event in a menacing solid build-up. Tom Cruise gives a performance of his life, supported well by the now defunct and unsactioned MIF members. As cliche as it sounds but I totally forgot when was the last time such a movie stole my day.

20th CENTURY FOX - Action/Adventure/Science Fiction
NOTE: One of the two unexpected top movie when 2011 begins 370 days ago. Skepticism over-run the whole premise and the question we beg to answer is - will it be too rushed and it failed? The answer is no - because this is one of the two Fox productions that defy that cliche expectation by going up at number four i our annual list. “Rise” makes Tim Burton’s version of the original remake “Planet of the Apes” a laughable stock. Then, Rupett Wyatt directs this into an excellent emotional display by Ceaser (played by Andy Serkis, who deserved Oscar nomination just for been an ape) and its "show-cause- tell-effect" plot help this movie to muster forward.

PARAMOUNT PICTURES - Thriller/Action/Science Fiction
NOTE: 2011 transports us back to the year 1979. Super 8 is clearly the best I have watched this summer. I just love it and it does well by successfully reconnecting the audience back to the 80s, while also recapturing the joy and thrill from the perspective of a bunch of kids. Seriously, how many times a Hollywood movie does this kind of stuff nowadays. Super 8 is a rare outcome of almost-perfection with an amazing scripts, imaginations and emotional displays. Watch it and feel it.

20th CENTURY FOX - Action/Adventure/Science Fiction
NOTE: Another gold product from a rushed through project by Fox. Like "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", this prequel of the established X-Men trilogy beats the even modest expectation by spinning an excellent movie in the end. X-Men: First Class is undeniably an excellent prequel to one of the most talked about Marvel properties. The prequel holds a lot of potential in story expansion to fill the gap and void between this one and the recent modern trilogy. The prequel serves an amazing plot, believable character with true chemistry and something that you really cared about. Indeed, the best movie I have seen this year - though it comes second to be exact!

SONY PICTURE - Animation/Family
NOTE: For the first time in Green Tea Movie's four-year history of Top Ten list, we have an animation to top it all. Despite the year been largely unceremonious in terms of good quality animation, but Arthur Christmas is the top movie of the year. It is packaged with strong and smart plot, amazingly fresh interpretation of how Christmas could have been in the hands of one dysfunctional Santa family with great voice talents behind them. To sum it all up, all you need is the five simple words; cheerful, hilarious, dysfunctional, controversial and happening.
