    KUALA LUMPUR (21 June): Movie goers in the greater Klang Valley will be spoilt for choices of movies and cinemas as Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) adds 18 screens to its circuit this Thurs , June 21, 2012 with the opening of 9-Screen GSC Setia City Mall, Shah Alam and 9-screen GSC Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya. The-two "GSC's 25th" cinemas were launched respectively on Wednesday and Thursday to give GSC a new total of 26 cinemas, 215 screens out of which 70 are digital screens and seating capacity of 39,829 seating capacity nationwide (including wheelchair spaces).

    Last night, GSC launched the first of two cinemas in Setia City Mall, Shah Alam with the presence of Y.B. Tuan Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew (Pengerusi Jawatan Kuasa Tetap Kerajaan Tempatan, Kajian dan Penyelidikan Negeri Selangor), Y. Bhg. Dato’ Mohd Jaafar bin Mohd Atan (Datuk Bandar Shah Alam), En Haji Rosli bin Haji Bakar ( Pengarah Perlesenan dan Penguatkuasa) , Mr Ang Leng Kiat (Ahli Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam), Ms Phillipa Holmes (General Manager, Setia City Mall), Ms Koh Mei Lee (GSC Chief Executive) and Mr Irving Chee (GSC General Manager).

    GSC Setia City Mall, Shah Alam will be equipped with 4 digital halls and its design is based on a contemporary eco approach with the usage of wood, stone, glass and steel. There will be a total of 1,552 seats and 18 wheel chair spaces (total seating capacity 1,570).

    At the launch of GSC Paradigm Mall this morning was Mr Choe Kai Keong (Director, WCT), Mr Ben Chong (General Manager, Paradigm Shopping Mall), Ms Koh Mei Lee (GSC Chief Executive) and Mr Irving Chee (GSC General Manager).

    GSC Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya will have 6 digital halls and can seat 1,548 pax at one go, with 18 wheelchair spaces (total seating capacity 1,566). GSC Paradigm Mall will also be introducing the “Hot Food Pick Up” counter whereby the public can pay for and collect the wide range of concession items in the main concession counters with the exception of the “hot food”

    GSC will be introducing the Dolby 3D glasses for children in these two new cinemas and this will be eventually rolled out in other GSC cinemas nationwide. 

    Both cinemas has been fitted with “green” features like energy saving LED lights, water savings fittings in the toilet and hand basins, sustainable materials for the toilet cubicle partitions, ceiling boards and internal partitions. The air-conditioning units also come in variable air volumes and CO2 sensors to ensure more efficient air quality control.

    In line with GSC’s tradition, the public was invited to free screenings in the new cinemas from June 16 -20 prior to the cinema openings June 21. To further reward movie goers, GSC Setia City Mall will be offering a “Buy 1 Free 1” and “Buy 2 Free 1” vouchers with every two tickets purchased at the ticket counter and a recyclable notebook will be given out complimentary with each purchase of GSC Combo 3 (Large) from June 21 onwards, while stocks last.

    Meanwhile in GSC Paradigm Mall, cinema patrons can look forward to 1,000 “Buy 1 Free 1” vouchers with every two tickets purchased at the ticketing counter and a eco-friendly notebook with each purchase of GSC Combo 3 (Large), while stocks last.
