DRUM TAO is the world-renowned martial arts and drum-playing extraordinary act that hailed from the “Land of the Rising Sun.” Formed in the Aichi Prefecture back in the year of 1993, they have found the city of Oita in the island of Kyushu as their new base. Oita gave them a lot of opportunity to establish and to blend their identity with the surrounding green natures while also effortlessly creating a perfect environment to be channelled into their music. Over the years, their music progresses from the deep indigenous culture that took a stem from Kyushu to ground-breaking presentation of martial artistry; in what it is known today as “an world class entertainment.”
Their world class entertaining act has since then leaped them into a much applauded and critical recognition worldwide. Armed with massive 400 kg Wadaiko Drum, they spent eight months per year touring the globe, setting up an eclectic 500 shows per year in various exotic locations. Up till now, their performance was shown to more than 5 million peoples in 400 cities in 17 countries across the globe – including Denmark, Switzerland, USA, UK and Germany. Fortunately for Malaysians; comes 2012, DRUM TAO will be performing in Kuala Lumpur to give the Malaysian a chance to embrace their thrills and excitements.
In KL, we should be able to expect a two-hour extravaganza that features 16-strong and highly disciplined crew of the Japanese Taiko drummers donned in red and black robes. Along with their signature musical beats from the Wadaiko Drum, the performance will also include a fusion of complex rhythms of smaller drums, bamboo flutes, a horizontal harp and an unforgettable choreography of martial arts that are all true to whom they are.
