OFFICIAL IMAGE FROM NEILL BLOMKAMP'S ELYSIUM

Me, Jason Bourne in space and I am bald

Slash Film and The Playlist published in what looks like the first official image of Matt Damon in Neill Blomkamp's latest sci-fi flick "Elysium". The follow-up to the director's highly acclaimed "District 9" - for which in fact, this is not a sequel of that has been shrewd with secrecy during its intensive filming for months. Now that the filming is on its post-production, Sony Pictures has unveiled that "Elysium" will be presented in the coming San Diego Comic Con 2012. This first official image may have something to talk for about the plot. Now shaved in baldness, Damon wields a mechanical and seems to be a non-terrestrial space gun, complete with a badass look nevertheless. Indeed take a jump right after this and read on the official plot synopsis.

The plot synopsis sounds like this:
"In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds."

Social injustice seems to be main theme here and was similarly played in "District 9". While we are waiting for any news about that sequel, "Elysium" sounds like a great filler after all. But I have no answer for "Chem-Rail" - you will see it in the image!!

Besides Matt Damon, the movie also features Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Sonia Braga, and Diego Luna. It is due out on March 1, 2013 in cinemas.
