The prequel to the ever popular L. Frank Baum‘s Wizard of Oz is something that some of us have been waiting for, I guess! Well it is debatable still that how a prequel might tarnish the absolute classic of that 1930's that me myself has been watching countless of time. Yes, never too young to admit my love for Wizard of Oz anyway. During the San Diego Comic Con 2012 which is now on-going, the Walt Disney panel has unveiled the first teaser to Sam Raimi's Oz The Great and Powerful at Hall H. Check out that trailer right after the jump.
The trailer shows a great transition from square-boxed black-and-white footages to vividly astonishing and colourful images - that basically sums up the story. I love certain elements of this movie - the tone of the movie in particular. Sam Raimi, as expected delivers quite a promising movie after all.
The official plot synopsis is as follows:
When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful Wizard—and just maybe into a better man as well.
Starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, and Zach Braff and directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man), Oz the Great and Powerful opens in cinema nationwide on March 2013.
