According to the Box Office Guru, The Twilight Saga: New Moon has smashed two box office record on Friday with a stunning $ 72.7 million in estimated ticket sales, according to the distributor Summit. The stunning number includes $ 26.3 million in post-midnight sales on late Thursday.
With those figures, New Moon easily smashed the record held by The Dark Knight's opening day ($ 67.2M) and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince's midnight gross ($22.2M). With that much of amount, however, may not enough to generate a monstrous opening weekend record considering that the movie is most highly front-loaded.
The saga, if follows what last year's Twilight did (plunged 41% on Saturday and further 42% on Sunday, with Friday's making roughly half of the weekend gross), New Moon may ended up only having in $130-$140 million, or maybe even lesser this time. However, with critical panning the movie with a low 29% approval rating where the fans won't mind of it at all at Rotten Tomatoes.
Anyway, be sure to check back on Monday morning for latest gross by the record-breaking New Moon.
