THE HOBBIT 2'S SCRIPT IS DONE BUT NO GREENLIGHT FROM STUDIO YET

The wait is a pain actually. MGM with its out of control cash problem could as well bring the whole damn thing about the progress of The Hobbit into completely dead. The project has been brought up few years ago and what happens until these days are that nothing had actually happened. No shooting (yet) and no official casting (yet) although we know Sir Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis are likely to be in.

Recently, producer
Peter Jackson spoke to Moviefone about the project during an interview promoting The Lovely Bones DVD. According to Jackson, the script for the second movie is done but it has not been given a greenlit yet.

SCRIPTS

It’s not really been delayed, because we’ve never announced the date. I mean it’s sort of interesting because the studio [MGM] has never greenlit ‘The Hobbit,’ so therefore ‘The Hobbit’ has never been officially announced as a “go” project, nor have we ever announced a date.

If I am to trust my last report regarding this project, I would stick to believe that the shooting will start at the ned of this year. But worries me a lot is that Jackson said that there wasn't any official date announcement yet, thus technically no delay.

CASTING

Jackson confirms
that no actors have been cast yet. Although there is a bit of audition were done, he feels that they may need to find the right actors through a wide net.

Ouch!! the problems of such have been plaguing the production of The Hobbit for so long. I guess things will only resolved if MGM quickly to be sold off at auction. It's back and forth trip to certainty and uncertainty. I feel burnout waiting for them!!
