I am not sure yet, which one will be Tim Burton's next project. While the list is getting longer and includes The Addams Family and Frankenweenie, Sleeping Beauty reworking Maleficent, Dark Shadows (with Johnny Depp), Monsterpocalypse and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter are also on his list. Nevertheless, there is still a room for one more. According to The Latino Review, Burton may next tackle an adaptation from Japanese manga Mai The Psychic Girl.
The comic series which has running series back in 1985-86 in 28 comic books, was written by Kazuya Kudo and Ryoichi Ikegami. It revolves around Mai Kuju, a 14-year-old girl with powerful psychic abilities. She is being pursued by the Wisdom Alliance, an organization which secretly strives to control the world. The alliance already controls four other powerful psychic children, and it has hired the Kaieda Intelligence Agency to capture Mai.
Tim Burton linkage to this manga is nothing new. Back in the days, Burton had a film adaptation in preparation before but it was cancelled by Sony. Now that Burton has re-acquire the rights from Sony, things should go to according the plan.
