JUDGE DREDD 3D START SHOOTING THIS YEAR

Judge Dredd. Ring any bell? A few days ago, news broke out that the new Judge Dredd will be returning to the big screen with Pete Travis on the director seat with Alex Garland's script. The project has officially and finally received the greenlight at Cannes yesterday; means everything will start to move on now. It was also made understand that the movie will start shooting at Fall in Johannesburg.

The planned project will cost at around US$ 45 million, relatively cheap considering the 3D touch in and the Mega City that will be created to suit in Judge Dredd's story anyway. Comic book co-creator John Wagner said:
Alex Garland’s script is faithful to the original concept that made Judge Dredd a favourite bad-ass hero. It’s a high-octane slay ride through the dark underbelly of the vast future city. A fan pleaser. With their track record, I have every faith in Alex Garland, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich.

Judge Dredd used to rule the cinema, once back in 1995 with Sylvester Stallone in it. Although it raked in US$ 114 million worldwide - considerably high at that time, some sees it as a box office disappointment! We hope the best for the new 3D film, which reportedly will be "free of Stallone."
