TRAILERS: "THE IRON LADY" AND "FINAL DESTINATION 5"

Two trailers were released last night. One is from 20th Century Fox (handling UK distribution) and The Weinstein Company's (handling US distribution) biopic about British former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and another one is from New Line Cinema's fifth round of Final Destination. Watch both of the new trailers after the jump.

THE IRON LADY

"The Iron Lady" is a film directed by Phillipa Lloyd, who also directing Meryl Streep's Mama Mia! The movie examines through a series of flashbacks revolving the life of Margaret Thatcher, including the 17 days leading up to the Falklands War in 1982. The screenplay is penned by Abi Morgan and the film is already gearing up for some Oscar recognition. It would be easy to say that Streep's almost-annual entrance into the Best Actress category would continue once again if the teaser trailer is the thing that we would judged upon.

The 63-seconds trailer shows very little about the story, but it focuses on the acting. It has a nice slow built-up but also limits itself of been more of an introductory than illustrating the whole picture itself. Personally, I think Meryl Streep maybe single-handedly able to conquer the role despite the fact that she is an American. One of the early reactions regarding the casting of Meryl Streep has to be her attempt to tongue in the British accent; more or not it goes down to the restlessness of an American to portray a British character with senses. Anyway, watch the trailer below and tell me what you think.

The Iron Lady opens on December 16 in the Stateside and January 6 on the other side of the pond. No words on local release here.

FINAL DESTINATION 5

Last month, Green Tea Movie first previewed the first trailer for the creepy horror Final Destination 5. Now, it seems that the marketing for the supernatural horror has just taken itself into a different direction. The brand new trailer may have says too much about the spoiler acts – because just like the trailer for the third installment, there are plenty of surprising scene that envisioned how one would die. In case you don’t want to see too much, you can always skip the trailer. Or else, view it below:

Here's the official synopsis of "Final Destination 5":
"In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda. The new victims of Death’s plan are part of a cast led by Emma Bell (Frozen, TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and Nick D’Agosto (Fired Up!, TV’s “Heroes”). The film is being shot on location in Vancouver, Canada. The second of the “Final Destination” films to be shot in 3-D, Final Destination 5 is being directed by Steve Quale, marking his major feature film directorial debut."

"Final Destination 5" opens in cinemas in the United States on August 12 while here in Malaysia, you can catch it on august 25. 3D and 2D formats are available.
